countdown covered

Hi,

From below sentence in red, what does it mean?
Does it mean Presently there are no the Siesta World Cup in Mexico and the Dwarf Tossing World Cup in Australia. The hosts will bring the audience back to see these two events?

I think the Siesta World Cup is the siesta competition and Dwarf Tossing World Cup is the dwarf tossing competition. Do I understand correctly?

Investigating the likes of the Siesta World Cup in Mexico and the Dwarf Tossing World Cup in Australia, our sassy hosts have this countdown covered.

Thank you very much.

or it means the hosts will bring ‘the Siesta World Cup in Mexico and the Dwarf Tossing World Cup in Australia’ for the audiences to see.

I’d accuse this of being spam if I had the slightest idea what was being advertised.

Context would be nice, and would be self-explanatory if this were from a broadcast of “The Top Ten Pointless World Competitions.”

What is the meaning of ‘countdown covered’ in the context?

Thank you very much

The FIFA Soccer World Cup is this year. The hosts in the red sentence are counting down to, i.e. filling in the time until, that event by investigating other World Cup-like competitions.

And I think the point is that those other two are pointless and uninteresting competitions and thus the FIFA Soccer World Cup must be also. Pretty much a slam at soccer as I read it (and I am no soccer fan).

You have presented us with a single quoted line and have provided no context.
Where did you hear or read this?

You haven’t provided enough context. Can you post more text before and after the line you’ve given us?

Doing a search for the “red sentence” results in this page; nothing else comes up.

Thank you all,
Thank you GuonoLad.

“Investigating the likes of the Siesta World Cup in Mexico and the Dwarf Tossing World Cup in Australia, our sassy hosts have this countdown covered.”

Would this re-phrasing work in the original context:

Our sassy [=young, shiny, stupid and annoying] hosts are counting down [the top 5-10-500] stupid events around the world, from A [for A Dwarf throwing contest] to Z [for siesta zzzzzzzzzz contest]

Grammatically poor phrases delivered in over-loud and fast voice-over should probably not be puzzled over too much.
