Folks, we’re going to have to get a fairly accurate head count for the Dim Sum on Saturday morning. MikeG (who is having problems posting) said we could get plenty of food for about $20 each. Shadow, he also told me that if you are allergic to shrimp, the best thing to do is to order off the menu. We have reservations for 10 people, and we will call closer to the date with a more accurate head-count.
Here’s my guess at The Official Dim Sum Guest List

Or if you’re on the list and shouldn’t be, please post that, too. Yes, this means you. TIA.
fenrir, should I consider you on the “probably” list for the main DoperFest rather than the “maybe”?
You can put me on the for sure list for Fri. And the most likely list for Sat.And i’d like to add that there is a White Castle right down the block from Chief O Neils.
Does that mean no beach? I mean, I’m all for seeing the movie, but I can see a movie anywhere, ya know? If the tattoo/piercing group is heading out after Dim Sum, then kindly ignore my post as moot, since I’ll be watching Super and Bunny change their bodies forever.
thinksnow, those that want to beach may beach. I’m going to avoid a sun-induced migraine, and a couple of hours digesting Dim Sum in a cool movie theater may be be just the thing. Though who knows - I may still want a “nap.”
Truthfully, I think this is something we can decide that day; we can have a couple different options, and just have a designated meeting time for the main event at Chief O’Neill’s.
I did think BunnyGirl was planning on going to the tattoo parlor right after Dim Sum, though.
Yup, heading to Skin of a Different Color in fabulous Aurora, Illinois immediately following Dim Sum.
I’m open for the beach after that though. I guess we’ll have to play the afternoon by ear - don’t know how long Super’s tat will take and we’ll have drive time too.
Have we decided on a time for Dim Sum? 10:00 is okay with me, if that works for everyone else. Shadow and I will be picking ts and Superdude up at the hotel and then coming to the Phoenix.
MiniChiDope: Friday, August 24th at Resi’s in the Beer Garden - no specific time here; people should start rolling in around 7 or 8. I personally don’t expect to get there until after 8. Gluttony: Dim Sum at The Phoenix starting at 10 am on Saturday August 25th. No, you don’t have to be there right at 10, but that’s when the first eating shift starts. I’d expect the last eating shift will end around 1. Remember, we need a fairly accurate head count here, so please post if you’re going to the GluttonyFest and aren’t already on the list.* MainChiDope: Saturday August 25th at Chief O’Neill’s in the Beer Garden starting at 6 pm. I know this is early, but then we can monopolize a good spot in the Beer Garden early, have a few 'tizers, and have a few before-drinking drinks. I’d expect most people to show up by 8 or so.
What about dinner, you may ask? Well, after gorging on Dim Sum, I don’t think most of us will want to eat a huge dinner, so I think we will be fine with 'tizers and other fare at Chief O’Neill’s. Besides, we need to have room for alcohol. Does that sound ok with everyone? If you have other thoughts, please post 'em to the thread so we can argue about it.
I will be attending those three events, porc. As for post dim sum, I think I may just go home and take a nap or go to the gym. Just to take a break, lest I burn out before O’Neills
Okay, 10:00 a.m. sounds good for Dim Sum. We’ll try to be there as close to 10:00 as possible, but depending on how late and how drunk y’all are out at Resi’s, I may have to drag ts and Super out of bed to get there. We’ll work something out though! I will not be denied my Dim Sum!
I plan on eating dinner at Chief O’Neill’s. I checked out the menu, and it looks good. Since I’m not doing the Dim Sum thing (not only does it sound nasty, it’s about $15 more than I am willing to spend on lunch), so I’ll be ready for a decent meal. Hopefully someone else will eat with me, if not… oh well!
I wasn’t able to scrounge the cash to get a room at Sheffield house, and I have to be downtown Sunday for a doctor’s appt (don’t ask) at 9:30. If I can get someone to watch my dogs, does anyone have a space on the floor I could borrow? I’m only 5’2" if I lie so I don’t need a lot of room.
If you promise not to kick me or hog the covers, you can share my double bed. Shadow and I are sharing a room and Superdude may crash on the floor, but it should work.
I also may be too poor for Dim Sum - I won’t know until we are closer to the event. I’ll plan on grabbing a bite at Chief O’Neill’s later with boli for sure. If anyone is interested in alternatives to Dim Sum, let me know - there is a great, reasonable brunch place in my 'hood. About $7/plate for really yummy breakfasts and amazing sandwiches.
**VileOrb’s brunch bunch:**And, If any of us have the time, the energy, and the money, there is possible champaign brunch on Sunday 11-ish. Judging by most of the posts in this thread, not many of us have much cash to spare, so I’m thinking The Kitsch’n on Roscoe near Damen is the best choice.
Well, since I am simply dripping in cash, I’d love to join the VileOrb Brunch Bunch[sup]TM[/sup], but do we have to drive all the way to Champaign? It must be three hours away! Can’t we just stay around ChiTown and drink champagne?
::I’d duck and run, but I’m already out of arm’s reach::
