Countdown to ChiDope – Sex Toys, Booze, and Trivia Games - April 5th and 6th

Are you talking about back and forth to Timmy O’Toole’s? Do we have a Doubletree count? A Timmy O’Toole count? I will be at both places, with a car and seating for 3 or 4 (I haven’t looked yet to see if it has a center rear belt). I’m a light drinker, so I plan on driving if there’s much chance of parking, and you’re welcome to a ride. But if local parking is hopeless, I’d go in on a shared cab/limo.

Is there any late limit on Timmy’s? Like, does it, or the el train, shut down at some time?

Ruh-roh! Bill, I think we may be in trouble!

BTW, iampunha does not drink. I believe his concern over the ID issue was simply being able to join the group rather than being forced to watch through the window.

Thank heavens I decided against offering tours of the U of C campus. I would suggest staying away from Northwestern and UIC on a Friday night/ Saturday too.

Hrm.

I guess this means I can’t take a tour of City Hall after all.

Check it out folks, an ULTIMATUM!

And just so people can be up to snuff on indecency laws in Illinois ('cos this is a ChiDope, after all), you can find them here. Do a find for “720 ILCS 5/11-9”.

Obscenity is at “720 ILCS 5/11-20” on that page.

(There’s some fascinating laws on the books, if you just take the time to sift through them … I’m not gonna accomplish anything more for the rest of the day, I’m sure. Did you know that a dip net for non-commercial smelt fishing in Lake Michigan may be used subject to the provisions of Section 10-40?)

Thanks, I hadn’t gotten as far as checking relative locations. Guess that makes my choice for me. Although to be honest, I’ll probably make my final decision based on any friendships I make Friday night. All the museums will still be there after this weekend; it’s the company that interests me.

I would be up for a trip to the Museum of Science and Industry. I’m staying at the Doubletree at O’Hare also. We just need to decide when to meet on Saturday and, of course, the mode of transportation to use in order to get to the museum.

BTW, if we can get enough people in together on the cost, I could chip in towards a limo in order to get from Doubletree to Timothy O’Toole’s.

Also, since I have mentioned it before, I’m also interested in attending Jarbaby’s little Sunday shindig too. Is anybody else from the Doubletree planning on attending that?

The beautiful and gracious Persephone has a hotel room that she’s paying for for just such an occasion. Myself and Tattva are already staying there. I’m sure you’re welcome, too. But if there have to be bedmates, I’m calling dibs on sleeping with the female.

Well darn, Superdude beat me to it!

Yes, **Wisest Novel, ** I do indeed have space, and yes, I’m picking up the tab for it. It’s at the Embassy O’Hare, across the street from the Doubletree. You still need a place to stay, just let me know. You can email me or Superdude.

Glad you’ll be able to make it!

Bang-on. I remember getting to watch people party Friday night when that one place in NYC started carding. Not my idea of a good time. And were I tempted to drink alcohol (which I won’t be), the possible side effects (death among them) are such that I usually stay to carbonated beverages. I’d love if it they carded for drinks instead of getting into the actual bar, but I can think of enough bad things that’d happen from that that I can see why they don’t do it. Still rather, ah, annoying, though.

I do appreciate the offer, though, Tattva:slight_smile:

FTR, most bars in Chicago do not card at the entrance. Clubs, however, are another matter. Since ChiDope is a bar, though, you and I have nothing to worry about, pun.

Also, the only way I can imagine it taking 45 minutes to get from the Art Institute to the MSI is if there’s a Bears game or something equally huge happening at Soldier Field that would cause the southbound lanes of Lake Shore Drive to get that clogged up. Given that Soldier Field is under construction (to add that godawful boat-blue-seating-bowl-crap-thing), I think you can expect to get to one museum from the other in 15-20 minutes. I would suggest taking the #6 southbound Jeffrey Express bus (which you can catch from in front of the Art Institute) to get to the MSI, as then you won’t have to worry about getting ripped off by cab drivers. Not that they do that, but why pay $10 for a journey that you can take for $1.50?

hmmm…why are you coming then?

I can’t believe I missed this the first time…

Now somebody help me come up with a good zinger for this one.

Just make sure he sets his damn alarm clock.

Sweetie, I think you’ve missed the point. Yes, ho ho, he should set his alarm clock (inside joke from the engagement party which I shan’t go into here), but this has nothing to do with “Untied Airlines.”

Now get back to work.

“Untied Airlines” was ENTIRELY on purpose, m’dear. It is a seemingly not so well known anti-company site, www.untied.com for folks to complain from both inside and outside the airline. A poke at the industry for my woes that I did NOT bring upon myself. And my alarm clock was set just fine, Dave for 4:00 on the nose [sub]pm[/sub].

As for complying with the laws of the great state of Illinois, we may have to move up that wedding date!

Well, sheesh…that mean that if I want to come I have a place to stay too?

Just as a FYI, from the Illinois Marriage and Dissolution of Marriage Act:

You won’t get a chance to be judged by twelve of your peers, good and true. (Which is all for the best, really, since I doubt that any twelve of your peers are good and true…)

Maybe if we’re lucky, there’s trial by combat instead of trial by jury. Back to the lawbooks I go.

<perk>

Did someone say trial by battle?

Can we? Please?
