Counting the votes

So will they ever actually count all the votes?

They did count all the votes. Three times in fact. The ones that Gore wanted everyone to recount ad infinitum were the ones that didn’t register a vote for president. Oh, and don’t forget that Al “Count Every Single Vote” Gore tried to get thousands of absantee ballots thrown out. Just coincidentally, those ballots favored Bush.

FYI, it wasn’t Gore who brought that case about throwing out those ballots, it was someone else, a citizen I believe.

A prediction: Swift removal of this thread to GD.

Why do you beleive that Gore had nothing to do with trying to through out the absentee ballots. Technically it was brought by private citizens. However, Gore gave an interview where he explained among other things why he thought those ballots needed to be thrown out.

If the situation was reversed this sort of thing would be evidence of a vast right wing conspiracy.

nah-the right wing only knows how to make a half-vast conspiracy…

Many of these ballots had clear selections for the other candidates and issues presented in Florida. It’s obvious that these people just plain didn’t want to vote for anyone for president! :D:D

“None of the Above”, as was proclaimed in the movie “Brewster’s Millions”.

To answer the original question before this gets out of hand, it really depends on who ‘they’ is. The State of Florida has certified it’s electors, and they’re done with the counting – they don’t care anymore. But apparently Florida has really strong open-record laws, and anyone can petition to examine the ballots. So I’d say individual groups are going to try to do their own recounts using whatever standards they choose. But obviously any group that has a reason to do a recount is going to be biased, and so no one is going to accept their count as meaningful. So ‘they’ will count the votes, but it won’t mean anything.
