Apologies if this has already been posted.
The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals struck down Arizona’s ban on same-sex marriages on Friday, paving the way for gay couples to wed in the state. State Attorney General Tom Horne called a press conference to say he wouldn’t challenge the ruling and he ordered the 15 county clerks’ offices to issue marriage licenses immediately.
I’m glad to see my state has joined the 21st century, even if we had to be dragged into it kicking and screaming. Arizona is a traditionally conservative state and lame-duck governor Jan Brewer condemned the ruling, saying it subverts the will of the voters. This is a huge victory in the recognition of equal rights for all.
