Courtney Love Arrested

I changed my mind, pit thread here.

Ahem

(bolding mine)

You mean dollars or donuts, don’t you?

I think it was Voltaire who first said:

If man did not already have the word skank, he would have to invent it – for her.

I figured the donuts would be stale by the time they got here, I want the greenbacks

AIR RAGE, verbal abuse.

AIR RAGE!!! - verbal abuse.

Am I the only one here that sees the difference?
I fly quite frequently and believe it or not I’m not oblivious to what’s called “the news” so I am quite aware of what air rage is and the fact that people have been being arrested for it for several years. I’ve just yet to see that what Love did on this occasion was air rage.

IIRC, that incident stemmed from Love propping her feet up on a bulkhead wall. Her version was that the flight attendent got nasty in asking her to take them down, leading to an arrest for “verbal abuse.” Apparently, the lesson was not well learned.

She didn’t hit anyone upside the head with a stick in 1995 either Cisco.

from the above linked article

Your assertion that this is just the UK following the US since September 11 is clearly incorrect. You can disagree with the laws if you like by they are not new.

It was classed as air rage when she did it then, it is classed as air rage now.

but they are not new

It’s been against the law for a long time.

From LolaCocaCola’s link: “She was verbally abusive towards our cabin crew and disruptive,” the spokeswoman said."

Whether or not it was “air rage”, it seems clear that Ms. Love violated FAR 91.11 The aircrew were within their rights under FAR 91.3.

In short, don’t mess with the aircrew.

Oooh, details please!

I was on the flight that the third article that Finagle linked to is about. It was, without a doubt, one of the scariest things I’ve ever experienced. Flight attendants have to deal with a lot of assholes, in confined spaces, at thousands of feet in the air. Most of these assholes won’t turn violent; some will. Can you tell the difference by looking at them?

Mess with the flight crew, you get arrested. Why is it so difficult for people to understand this?

Ever stop to wonder why? Maybe your ‘sense of humor’, isn’t.

What’s the difference between humour and odour?

Humour is a shift of wit…

Hm, well, the story indicates that “voices” were raised. Plural. So it sounds like the flight attendant was being “disruptive” as well. I wonder if s/he’ll be carted off to the pokey anytime soon? Sorry, they’re in England, I mean the clink.

Pre- or post-9/11, yelling at someone or being “verbally abusive” should not be an arrestable offense. Ban Courtney Love from the airline but unless she actually throws a punch don’t waste everyone’s time arresting her. And I’m sorry, I don’t buy the “you never know which verbally abusive passenger is going to snap” rationale either. it strikes me as unlikely that someone who plans to blow up an airplane is going to draw attention to themselves by picking fights with the crew or anyone else. And if the passenger is going to decide to become violent in a non-premeditated way, then perhaps the flight attendant shouldn’t be raising his or her voice thus practically assuring that the situation will get uglier before it gets better.

Isn’t it premature to condemn either Miss Love or the airline/laws about disruption until we know what really occured on the flight? Right now, all we have is Virgin’s statement that she was “verbally disruptive”.

Dave Grohl is the guy who I’d really love to hear go to town on her, but he never will - gentleman that he is.

Look, in answer to one of the questions earlier regarding why so many people like to jump on Courtney and rag on her - ultimately, I suspect the reason is this… Courtney likes the limelight, and she has no problems rewriting history to maintain the myth that she’s entitled to be described with the dubious title of “rock royalty”.

To this day, 3 guys by the names of Kurt Cobain, Eric Erlandson, and Billy Corgan are the names constantly promulgated as being the “true” craftsmen behind Hole’s songwriting highlights. But like Madonna, Courtney Love likes to claim credit for songwriting which clearly, she didn’t do - and yet, when pressed on the subject, will embark on epic long rants and tirades about women constantly being downtrodden through history blah blah blah - all the while hoping you forgot your original question all along.

Then, after you’ve gone, she’ll then start the history rewriting again.

For mine, after having analysed this woman for quite some time now, ultimately I reckon that’s what the public seems to most despise about her - the fact that she claims credit for stuff which clearly, she didn’t do.

The other issues, like the epic rants, and getting on hole.com and writing shit while really wasted etc - that’s just more icing on the cake - but it’s the rewriting of history which irks people the most I rather think.

Certainly, there’s one guy who’s entitled to feel MIGHTILY pissed off, and yet consistently, he’s admirably discrete and never says a thing - EVEN AFTER Courtney Love wrote on hole.com one night (whilst being totally trashed herself) that the target of her poison pen had become a heroin addict. And that guy? Dave Grohl from Foo Fighters. (The former drummer for Nirvana in case you don’t know). Courtney Love slams that guy from pillar to post with the most barbarous scathing displays of venomous jealousy, and never does he respond - ever.

Whoa. Would it be too much of a hijack to ask you to tell that story?

Don’t say “hijack” in an airline thread. You’ll be arrested.

In an enclosed space with too little room and crappy air, then hell yes I think the standard for arrest doesn’t have to be outright violence. First of all, it doesn’t take much to turn a simple flight into total misery for 100 people. But more importantly, if you are being so unpleasant that you are requiring flight attendants to devote a lot of time to dealing with you, then you are more than a pain in the ass. You are a SAFETY RISK.

Flight attendants aren’t there to sling peanuts. Their primary purpose (and training) is for safety. Not babysitting.

The Washing Post says:

Refusing an order of an aircrew member is a bad thing. A punishable offense. Courtney Love was pissed, reportedly, that a traveling companion seated in coach could not join her in 1st Class.

That may the first time I’ve seen “Courtney Love” and “1st Class” written in the same sentence.
