I’m a big fan of Peter Mullan’s work in other films, but Ms. Love doing Shakespeare sounds about as attractive as a 6-inch drill bit being inserted into my ear. Slowly. Whose grand idea was this, anyway?
It’s an adaptation, hence the title “Miss June” instead of, you know, Macbeth. I’m still not interested, but the idea of Courtney Love playing a character based on Lady Macbeth sounds a lot less horrifying than the having her actually do Shakespeare.
 Courtney Love doing Shakespeare… must… scrub brain… with… Brillo…
She’s done some good acting. But do we really need another version of Macbeth? Let me look at the link… Jesus Christ! Luc Besson is directing – okay, that’s your problem right there, not Courtney Love.
I know how you feel, but at least Branagh had enough brains to give Keanu a nearly-non-speaking role (and as I recall, Don John’s lines were cut down significantly from those in the play). All Keanu had to really do was glower a lot. Still, I have a hard time fathoming that choice too… Love as Lady Macbeth seems like a worse offense to me, because it’s very much a lead role.
Hey, watch it… I just finished watching Leon for the dozenth (or so) time last night, and was reminded again why it’s one of my all-time favorite movies. Besson can be a good director… he just doesn’t always live up to his potential.
Sorry, I know Love can be a good actress in some roles (she was all right in Man on the Moon as well), but I just cannot see her doing Shakespeare. It makes me think of the atrocity that was Calista Flockheart in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. brrrrr
Hmmmm… the possibilities are intriguing. Martin Short at MacBeth, Courtney Love as Lady MacBeth, Dame Edna as all three witches, John Goodman as MacDuff… and Russell Crowe as Duncan.
And Asta the Wonder Dog as Spot, for the “out, out, damn’d Spot” scene.
