Yes did “America”, written by Paul Simon for Simon and Garfunkel.
I’m quite sure the world doesn’t need to hear “Yours Is No Disgrace” arranged for acoustic guitar and 2-part vocals.

Wouldn’t it make more sense to have Stevie Nicks singing “Bullet with Butterfly Wings?”
Actually, no, it wouldn’t. Scratch that.
Here’s my shot at it
Sepeltura also did “Bullet the Blue Sky” by U2, but somehow I don’t see Bono doing “Beneath the Remains”
Johnny Cash “Hurt” vs Nine Inch Nails “I Walk The Line” (actually that might be interesting in a odd kind of way)
Metallica “Turn the Page” vs Bob Seiger “Seak and Destroy”
Johnny Cash did a cover of Nine Inch Nails “Hurt”, but I can’t imagine Trent Reznor singing “Man In Black” or “A Boy Named Sue”
My apologies, I didn’t see Azargoth’s post.
Let me try that again:
Metallica did a remake of Bob Seger’s “Turn the Page”, but I don’t think we’d want to hear Seger try to vocalize “Master of Puppets” or “Fade to Black”
Hey, Sonic Youth covered “Superstar.” Could you see The Carpenters doing anything by Sonic Youth?
You’d kind of have to know the bands, but if you did, it would be amusing. Sloan, a Canadian power-pop combo, covered Stereolab’s “Transona Five” on a bonus album. It sure would be strange to hear Laetitia Sadler warbling through “Underwhelmed” or “People of the Sky.”
Run DMC did “Mary, Mary” (sort-a)- The Monkees doing “Raising Hell?”
Simon and Garfunkel doing “Walk like and Egyptian”?
Tommy James and the Shondells doing “White Wedding”?
.
The Dickies did Nights in White Satin, can’t imagine the Moody Blues doing I’m Stuck in a Pagoda with Tricia Toyota
I realize several of these would actually be awesome in reverse, thus being the opposite of the thread, but hey, they’re fun to share anyway.
The Dandy Warhols lay out an amazing cover of “Hells Bells” by AC/DC. And as much as I love AC/DC…no.
Crispin Glover sings “These Boots are Made for Walking” on his album. Now if you’ve ever heard this album, just picture Nancy Sinatra singing “Automanipulator”.
Duran Duran does a pretty good take on both “Lay Lady Lay” and “Perfect Day”. Now as rediculous as Dylan would be singing “Hungry Like the Wolf”, I think I might just cream all over a Lou Reed-ified “Come Undone”.
Radiohead covered the Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here”. I think I could die happy if I ever heard Roger Waters belt “Creep”.
David Bowie’s cover of “Let’s Spend the Night Together” makes me want to hear Mick Jagger sing “Diamond Dogs”.
Beck would often play “Hot in Herre” on his last tour. The thought of Nelly trying to hit “Where It’s At” just makes me laugh uncontrollably on the inside.
Elliott Smith has a cover of “Trouble” by Jon Brion floating around out there somewhere. As a matter of fact, I would love to hear these two songwriters play many of each other’s songs.
Sting did a pretty good cover of Little Wing on his “Nothing Like the Sun” album. I’d love to hear what Jimi Hendrix would’ve done with Fields of Gold or All This Time…
Dwight Yoakam: Crazy Little Thing Called Love.
Queen: Guitars, Cadillacs… nah, it just DOESN’T work.
What if Nirvana did a cover of Tori Amos’ Me And A Gun? Yeah, I know Cobain is dead, but, oh, the irony of the title…
Megadeth did “These Boots Are Made for Walkin’”…
…but I just can’t hear ol’ Nancy pulling off “Peace Sells” or “My Darkest Hour.” Much less “Hangar 18.”
I couldn’t see her doing any Crispin Hellion Glover songs either.
Metallica did a cover of “tuesdays gone”, it was awfull, but i have no idea what skynyrd would do with “blackened”.
Tori Amos covered “Rain in Blood”… as improbable as that alone, I certainly can’t imagine Slayer doing anything good with “Cornflake Girl”.
Brujeria covered “La Macarena” yet I don’t think Los Del Mar will be making any dance song routines with “Molestando Ninos Muertos”.
In Flames does an excellent version of “Everything Counts” not sure Depeche Mode could repay the debt with “Episode 666”.
Judas Priest does “Diamonds and Rust” justice, but I don’t think “Painkiller” is in the runnng for Joan Baez’s next cover.
It’s time for another episode of Good Idea, Bad Idea…
Good Idea: U2 did a very cool cover of Unchained Melody as a B-side single…
Bad Idea: The Righteous Brothers (rest in peace, Bobby Hatfield) attempting a cover of Lemon or Zoo Station…
Shonen Knife did a good version of Cherry Bomb. I don’t see Joan Jett doing Cookie Day.
They also did a pretty nifty version of On Top of the World…even were Karen alive I don’t think the Carpenters could tackle Devil House without driving people mad…
The Cruxshadows did a great version of Happy Christmas (War is Over) - better than John Lennon’s in fact…even were he alive I don’t think Lennon’d be taking on, say, Jackle Head.
Roger Waters could sing the phone directory to the tune of “Don’t Worry Be Happy” and I’d listen.
