Covid Finally Got Me

Or I got it. It feels like a mild cold; I don’t know that I would have taken a test if we hadn’t been scheduled to have dinner with my eighty-something inlaws this evening. It’s happening the first week of summer break, which is also the week our son is down here visiting. At least I can go out on the deck when it’s not too hot, so Wednesday is the only day I’m likely to stay in the basement.

I just got over it myself, about a week ago. Very mild case. Highest temperature was 100.4 or so. Mild sore throat, tiny bit of congestion. I totally would have believed it was just a cold if I hadn’t taken a test.

Hope yours stays as mild!

If mine were any milder I’d be asymptomatic. No fever, just a little congestion.

I am glad you both had mild cases.

When I got it, it wasn’t bad enough for hospitalization but it was really bad. Like the worst flu mixed with the worst head cold ever. And I had a persistent cough that lingered for weeks after everything else was done.

No fever but I think I’ve had one fever in the past 30 years, I just don’t get them ever for anything really.

But yeah, if it’s just like a mild cold for you then rest up somewhat, isolate, and it’s great that it isn’t worse.

I also avoided it until this past week. Thursday, I was out of town on business with a painful sore throat, and then left the work site on Friday morning feeling like crap. I spent from Friday morning until today (Monday morning) in a hotel bed. Flew home today and immediately went to urgent care, where I was diagnosed with Covid (but not flu or strep throat).

I recently had Covid for the second time. Neither case was particularly bad, no doubt in part due to pretty much staying fully vaccinated and in part generally good health and luck.

But the second case really tired me out. It took several weeks before I was back to normal levels of intellectual and physical energy.

I’ve read that your chances of getting long Covid increase the more times you become infected. I do NOT want to get Covid a third time, that’s for sure.

I’ve had it twice. Wasn’t bad really.

I thing it’s much easier on you if you have had the vax. Your body is already prepared to battle it.

Question to you COVID folks: have you received all five of the COVID vax?

~VOW

I had received 4 vaccines when I got Covid the second time, and subsequently got the 5th vaccine dose.

I’ve taken every one that 's been offered to me. Honestly, I no longer know how many that’s been.

Some good friends both just got it for the first time, one had very mild symptoms, the other was laid low for several days. Still a lot of variation.

Yes, I have.

I’ve had all the ones I’ve been offered as well, which is in the general US population category, since I’m not particularly high risk or old.
I also had COVID itself once before - back in the Omicron days, I believe. That time it took me out for much of a week, mostly with fatigue. And I remember one night of shivers.

This was an absolute breeze. Well, other than the fact that I couldn’t be with my parents for their impromptu hospital trip after my father fell. That’s always been my fear. Thankfully he seems ok, and Mom was able to manage the drive and taking care of him without me.

Same with me.
