But, I supported Obama in 2008 and 2012. And as I sit here, I can’t think one instance in which people were wearing Obama hats en masse when it wasn’t an election year. Can you? This isn’t a rhetorical question. Can you point out a non-election year where crowds of people were wearing Obama hats or gear? Shit, even Obama gave his final address in Chicago - I can’tfindasinglephoto with more than few people in the crowd wearing Obama hats or Obama gear. In this specific context, these hats are used not in support of Trump but in support of the white supremacy. These animals, these non-voting supporters of Trump, know that how white liberals and people of color react to the hat, therefore they wear it to provoke a response, to “troll the libs”, to cloak themselves in white victimhood, and to virtue signal to others that they support racism and misogyny under the cloak of political affiliation. If the animal had removed his hat, stepped aside, this thread wouldn’t even be here. You do know that right? Though the white liberals will never see it: it’s clear that white folks are trying to inoculate their racism from criticism by merging it with political affiliation and religion.
Setting this aside, it is clear that white folks live in a different universe. It’s the universe where racism doesn’t exist except when it’s “anti-white” (lol) racism. Need proof? The only way to fix the issue is separation or secession. Period. White folks want to have their own land, with their own laws, with their money, with their own schools, and hospitals separate from people of color. White folks just want to be left alone in their own universe. It’s the reason why the school’s website has not one single picture of a person of color. They are letting you know right now: minorities are not welcome at the school. And, they aren’t. And, if people of color are stupid to enroll, they have to deal with school policies that allow students to dress up in blackface (with the blessing of the adults in the room). This country is beyond saving. Carve out the urban (and suburban areas) and make them a State within a State. Urban and suburban areas need to be given their own representation in the Senate. Malcolm X was correct - separation is the only option.

I think white folks came up with this crime called “menacing”. I don’t know much about it, but it fits the bill, after all, this law was written by white folks, passed by folks, affirmed by a white president/governor, and adjudicated by a white judges. So, it must be a legit law, right? Phillips said he was fearful. We should believe him, just like we believe your white supremacist cops were “fearful” when they murder people of color. General guidelines are to travel with a 10/1 adult/child ratio. Generally mixed, though I don’t know that it matters. As far as things like, “you can go play frisbee in the commons” or “you can walk over to the student union to buy lunch”, anywhere from 2-10 kids might go together.
Does that seem inappropriate to you? We let 16 year old kids drive, have jobs, be life-guards. I am pretty careful about it–like, I wouldn’t let a group like that cross a busy street alone. But letting kids wander a park or a mall or a campus–some defined space–is really normal. We also let them stay in hotel rooms overnight without an adult there in the room.
I think that “menacing” is a bullshit, dehumanizing description when it’s applied to teenagers as an excuse to use violence against them. And I think dehumanizing teenagers is a profoundly shitty thing to do. What about you?
I lead younger kids on field trips, and supervise them a lot more closely. Teenagers deserve a lot more freedom, absolutely. But I don’t think I’d send a bunch of teens wearing Act Up! t-shirts unsupervised onto the National Mall on a day where there were multiple competing protests. That would be deeply irresponsible.
And MAGA hats are way shittier than Act Up! t-shirts.
