Crab Legs, Anyone?

JavaMaven1 sez:

Well, we’ve already ascertained that it wasn’t brains, in other threads!

Johnny L.A. sez:

Well, if you watch Iron Chef, they seem to use Crab Brains in every other dish. My opinion? Eat the legs, toss the rest. I’ll use the body for stock, I just won’t eat it.

In fact, when I go to the local store to buy crab legs, I always tip the butcher a fin to get him to knock off the body parts, since they weigh as much as the legs, and I don’t want anything to do with them.

I like snow crabs the best. The body has lots of good meat, some even like it best, but i don’t eat it plain. Hubby will pic that meat out for me to use in crabbed stuffed mushrooms.

Thank you everyone, the crab legs turned out pretty good, if I do say so myself. (At least, they didn’t taste like shit, not bad for my first time.) It took me a while to get the whole steamer set up working for me, since the colander I have was too small to big to fit in the pot and still close the lid. (I had to borrow one from the neighbor.)

Honesty didn’t want anything too heavy, so we went with a green salad with a red wine vinagrette and corn on the cob for side dishes. I don’t know too much about wines, so I grabbed a Sauvigon Blanc, and that seemed to go pretty well with the meal.

And if anyone is wondering, it was Alaskan King Crab. I have been told that when she’s feeling better, I am gonna get SOOOOOOO lucky.

I need to cook more often.
