Cracker Barrel adds Impossible Sausage to their menu, conservatives lose their minds

Is she pissed because Impossible Sausage is another attempt to groom our children into the Black Lives Matter, trans agenda, critical race theory, antifa, socialist, Walmart re-education camp?
If not then this thread isn’t about her.

Why, then, is she angry? She realizes that the regular sausage is staying on the menu, right?

I don’t think they’ve thought it through even as far as “I might see those people here.” It’s a little bit of:

  • My restaurant is serving one single (optional) item to please people who aren’t like me, and that loss of absolute cultural dominance feels exactly like being an oppressed minority.
  • I’m scared that I see this happening everywhere and I have no power to stop it.

I’ll not sup with those who invite Satan to their table.

So basically it’s like this:

Bolding mine.

Empathy. It always comes down to empathy. Conservatives lack it completely.

Because she’s been eating at Cracker Barrels nearly as long as she’s been on this earth and does not want to see the old traditions change. And she’s weird.

Is she complaining about these changes;

The menu, which was designed to simplify the ordering experience for guests, will also introduce new dinner recipes, including Maple Bacon Grilled Chicken, Country Fried Pork Chops, Pot Roast Supper and Barrel-Cut Sugar Ham.

We loved to have fried chicken livers at Cracker Barrel. Bad news, they no longer have them.

Cracker Barrel will also be revamping another classic side, its Hashbrown Casserole, by adding (you guessed it) hickory smoked bacon, scrambled eggs, and Colby cheese to the signature dish

“No longer have Haddock dinner on the menu but still shows on-line.” Review of Cracker Barrel. No longer have Haddock dinner on the menu but still shows on-line.

Cracker Barrel’s new menu additions and limited-time offerings include: Hand-Breaded Fried Chicken Tenders: New this summer, guests can enjoy crispy hand-breaded and fried chicken tenders, served with dill pickle ranch sauce.

While we can’t bring these discontinued restaurant desserts back, we can join you in lamenting their disappearance. There will always be a Cracker Barrel Baked Apple Dumplin’-sized hole in our hearts.

Is anybody else struck by the irony here?

Vicious trumps (heh) stupid in the GOP.

Dan

I find it unfathomable that this is the first time Cracker Barrel has ever added a menu option in her 65 years on this earth. And I’m sure there are plenty of things on the menu that she would prefer not to eat.

But because they’re adding a meatless sausage option for vegetarians, she’s having a cow?

And thinks the vegetarians should too, apparently. Or just not eat there.

What irony?

LOL. You seem to be a little upset over this. She’s my sister but not always wrapped too tight. Don’t ask me to psycho analyze her mind.

Right, my bad.

Say what you will about Cracker Barrel, but if you’re on a long drive and get an irresistible hankering for a Chunky chocolate bar, a CB store is the place to stop.

Now if they start selling kale and quinoa chews, I’m outta there.

When you find out, tell me.

So nobody else? Oh well.

I admit, my irony meter may not be perfectly calibrated. But that particular blanket statement presuming to understand how a broad group of people think and tersely dismissing all of them, rather than trying to see their point of view or understand where they’re coming from or, well, empathize with them in any way, pinged it pretty hard.

Liberals claim to be, and very often genuinely are, the empathetic ones, the ones who champion inclusiveness and fairness and diversity. Which makes it especially ironic when they resort to othering and liberalsplaining and dismissing conservatives as being monolithically, simplistically awful. (And I say this without disputing that some conservatives, especially nowadays, really are that awful.)

How do you empathize with people who have no empathy? Seems kinda problematic to me.

No, it isn’t. A chain restaurant adds something to their menu (something they’ve done for years as I’ve shown) and people lose their shit. What exactly is there to empathize with?
