crackling sound in my neck

When I move my neck there is a crackling/crinkling sound like grinding bone. It is not painful and does not seem to hinder me in any way.
Could it be a snapping of fluid like when you crack a finger?
A chiropractor once told me it is normal and not to worry about it. He gave a name for it but I don’t remember what it was.
Any ideas?

Could be but I don’t have it in other joints.

that is not atypical - I have crepitus in the knees but no where else
