def. deco and i haven’t seen anything that matches mum’s bureaus. i’m a bit more on the art nouv. side over the deco. i tend to like curves over angles. your piece and mum’s have curves even though there is the triangle grain thing going on.
now i’ll be hunting. your piece looks like the bedside table to the set.
I haven’t done anything crafty in a long time, although I come from a fairly crafty family - my Mom & sisters sew, knit, etc. I was never good at any of those kinds of things. I’ve done a little woodworking - which I would do always, if I had a workspace and tools.
So, I’m going to be making my first attempt at making candles. That counts as a craft, right? I’ve been reading about it and I’m hoping they turn out well. If so, I’ll be giving them out as part of my Xmas gifts. I’m going to start with container candles because they seem easier.
My first batch are going to be coffee scented, and I’m making them in some coffee cups I picked up at the thrift store. I think if that works out I might try mint-mocha scented. I’m going to be doing coffee-and-cookie gift baskets (well, boxes, more likely) for the adults in family, so I’ve got high hopes for the candles. If they don’t work out, I’m going to have to keep my fingers crossed that the cookies turn out REALLY well
I just cast on a new sock (well, yesterday). No picture yet, but I can’t believe how soft this yarn is. It was knit before (by me, into a sock, which I decided was way too small back in May? June?). Still, I’ve knit several socks out of woolier and scratchier yarn since then and a bunch of stuff from assorted “soft” acrylic, and I can’t believe how soft this sock cuff feels.
I’m not sure I like the pattern I picked out–too many increases and decreases–why exactly did I decide I didn’t want to knit another sock in “rib” made purely from knits and purls?
I’m finishing up a sock, then i have to push on and do the second… before Christmas. This one seems to go smoothly though, I’m doing Fruit Loop and I think counting it as loops instead of rounds or inches makes it seem to fly by more.
I have one and a half more loops to do before the toe…
The pattern doesn’t LOOK complicated (only 3 rows to memorize, although the pattern is 16 rounds long), but keeping my ssks and k2togs and m1s and yos straight may get to me. Or maybe not–it’s flowing nicely this afternoon.
I knitted a blanket for my cats! I’m not going to show a picture of it though 'cuz it looks like crap but I had the flu and was too weak to do anything else and I was bored, bored, bored so I figured I’d knit a crappy blanket. It’s uneven and has dropped stitches but the cats like it. The first cat started kneading on it and then reached down and ripped out a few of the stitches. So I gave it to a different cat … the one with no teeth. She’s sleeping on it right now.
