Crafty crap

Here is the afghan I just finished. I’m rather proud of it.

What are you working on?

Very nice. It must have been fun, doing different designs in the blocks. I can’t read the titles of the books though – what’s up with that?

Australian Bush quilt – a really easy quilt and a great way to use scraps. I’ve made five of these. It’ll probably be a year before it actually becomes a quilt though.

I’m not a crafty type of person so I’m not working on anything but just wanted to say that both the afghan and quilt are very nice. I’m really impressed by people who are able to put these types of things together.

Earrings I just finished.

Everybody who I like in my office is getting a handmade keychain for the Holidays.

To the left of the bed are videos (of the VHS persuasion) – to the right of the bed are odds and ends waiting to be shelved. (The bed is in the guest room, which also has a half dozen bookcases in it.)

Nice! I like the colors.

The

Doll clothes for Christmas, a flannel nightgown (that matches the doll nightgown) for my older girl, a Christmas stocking for my niece–that’s a brand-new project, since my SIL just now asked me to do it. I thought she already had one, but it’s only her big sister. :o (Fun note: my brother, SIL, and two kids were just here, dressed to the nines in Korean hanbok, which they wore to church and are now having family Christmas photos in. My brother is over 6’ and looked pretty stunning in rose silk.)

I’ve finished two doll outfits–an Irish dance costume, complete with gold Celtic knotwork, and a Russian sarafan, in red of course (kokoshnik still under construction). A whole passel of literary bookbags, and I’m really annoyed because 5 were lost at a craft fair benefiting the library. I sure hope they turn up. I didn’t even get pictures of them, and they’re one-of-a-kind deals; I can’t make more of the same.

I need to find time to crochet when Velociraptor isn’t up and about, so he can have a few finger puppets for his stocking.

Otherwise, I just started a tea cozy for my aunt and am debating on winging mitts for my Dad, and hope I don’t make them too small.

Love the afghan and quilt! They look like they’d be cozy.

I’m working on a table runner for a friend for part of her Christmas present. I have the top done, and the backing fabric cut, so I just need to get it basted and quilted.

i’m working on a scarf/boa thing that i was sent by the craft club. i’ll have to find someone who needs to have a skinny fluffy scarf around their neck to give it to.

hey twickster, the piece you have the books on… where did you get it? it matches my mum’s bureaus that she got in the late 30’s early 40’s.

And what is it? Does the top open? I like the piece on the other side of the bed too.

I’ve just this morning finished a sweater for my dog (don’t laugh!). It’s red, with blue and white stripes - I based the pattern on the Montreal Canadiens’ home jersey.

I’ll try to fiure out how to post a pic - he’s really cute!

I just finished a crocheted sweater (my first attempt at following a charted pattern from some Japanese books that I got).

I knitted a hat, and I started on a blanket with rainbow colored yarn. I started out trying to follow a pattern, but after the second time of messing up and having to rip out 157 stitches, I said Screw It and I’m doing a stockingette stitch with a garter stitch border instead. Mindless, quick, and I plan to donate the blanket to the radiation oncologist office when I’m done. They take a lot of blankets, caps, scarves, shawls, etc for the cancer patients.

I just finished baby hat and bootiesfor a coworker whose baby is due next month.

I recently finished this hat for myself.

I’m currently working on a pair of fingerless glovesfor Suburban Plankton.

ETA: I just finished looking at everyone else’s projects…we have such talent here at the SDMB.

Wow, that’s a gorgeous pattern, so delicate! I really like it!

Wow, Helena, that sweater is gorgeous – are you keeping it, or is someone getting a way-nicer-than-they-deserve Christmas present?

(And everyone else’s stuff is neat too – I love these threads.)

Re: My furniture – the white table is from Target, I think, several years ago. The brown table is definitely Art Deco – I fell in love with it and the guy who owned it (someone I knew in grad school – I dated his roommate for a while, and he dated my next-door neighbor a few times) was kind enough to give it to me. I assume it’s '30s, but that’s a guess. The top doesn’t open – there’s the drawer you can see, then below that a door swings open.

I admire all of the knitting work. My attempts at knitting have been disastrous.

I’m almost finished with my enormous cross-stitch project. I’ve been working on it sporadically for over a year, and I believe I will stick to smaller pieces from now on. But I think this one will look nice hung in my dining room, which has dark blue walls.

I’m working on making some beaded Christmas ornaments, like these, for a couple of exchanges I’ll be doing. It’s sort of a family tradition. I used to help my grandmother make them when I was a kid.

a cross stitch Christmas stocking for my husband to match the ones I’ve done for the kids. (that will not be finished this year.) Christmas dresses for the girls (one left), doll clothes, lots and lots of doll clothes. The youngest Miss Woodhouse will be getting quite a bit for her doll and I’ll be doing some for the nieces as well. I’m loving the doll clothes. Dolly looks so cute in her matching Christmas dress with her velveteen double breasted coat.

Thanks! It does fit but it’s a little small (the arms are kind of snug). I think I might do another in a slightly heavier thread, later, and give this one to my mom.

I’m working on a little cross-stitch ornament for my mother. It’s the third one I’ve made; they’re all part of a kit I ordered online. I wasn’t very impressed with the kit’s instructions (it called for way too much gluing); fortunately, there was enough material in the kit to allow for some modifications (I sew the finished piece instead).
