I’ve had 2 phonecalls already that I screened to come in and work a graveyard shift – I dodged them cause I hate night work. I just got another call saying the guy they did find to work just broke his foot and went to the hospital.
So I took it as fate and agreed. But I’m gonna be incoherent tomorrow morning!
Well, the normal amount. Which is to say I didn’t sleep in so I’ll be pulling an all nighter. Ah well, uni starts in a month so I’d better get used to them!
Well, I worked then slept. Now I’ve got to work out how to sleep tonight for my shift tomorrow morning!
It’s on of the advantages and disadvantages to working in a hospital. I like it that there’s more than someone’s bank account at risk if they can’t get enough staff but it does mean I feel obliged to work when I don’t want to sometimes.
I seem to recall you are based in Brisbane, Australia, I recently visited Ipswich General’s Emergency Dept and was very impressed with the clerical and nursing staff there (not so much the doctors).
