Crap crap crap. I did NOT want to work tonight!

I’ve had 2 phonecalls already that I screened to come in and work a graveyard shift – I dodged them cause I hate night work. I just got another call saying the guy they did find to work just broke his foot and went to the hospital.

So I took it as fate and agreed. But I’m gonna be incoherent tomorrow morning! :frowning:

Bugger. :frowning:

I take it you haven’t had much chance to sleep?

Well, the normal amount. Which is to say I didn’t sleep in so I’ll be pulling an all nighter. Ah well, uni starts in a month so I’d better get used to them!

Well, maybe you can play hocky on the roof, or something…

/me hates that for you

I’m not even supposed to be here today!

I hope you squeezed some kind of compensation out of them, like a free meal during the shift, or a day off later this week, or something.

Jeez that sucks Silentgoldfish. Hope you enjoyed some employee ‘perks’ whilst working yourself into the ground.

Well, I worked then slept. Now I’ve got to work out how to sleep tonight for my shift tomorrow morning!

It’s on of the advantages and disadvantages to working in a hospital. I like it that there’s more than someone’s bank account at risk if they can’t get enough staff but it does mean I feel obliged to work when I don’t want to sometimes.

May I be the first to recommend large amounts of caffinated beverage - for after you have grabbed all the sleep you can NOT before.

Good Luck

Which hospital BTW?

I seem to recall you are based in Brisbane, Australia, I recently visited Ipswich General’s Emergency Dept and was very impressed with the clerical and nursing staff there (not so much the doctors).

My girlfriend’s from Ipswich and I go there occasionally, but I work at the Wesley, a private hospital 5 mins out from the middle of Brisbane itself.

Cool I know the Wesley well. Mum used to go there alot when her MS got bad, as I recall it was a really nice hospital.

Have you caught up on your sleep yet?
