I’m mad. I just paid my membership fee, took great pains (and time!!!) to write a GREAT post, THEN, the f***ing icon comes back with some crap about me not being logged in (WHEN IN FACT I WAS) – thus I lost m post!!!
Sorry to hear it, GrahamWellington, but welcome to the boards.
I usually copy a long post to the Clipboard before submitting, just in case; I don’t lose a lot of posts, but the handful I have, since joining, have made it well worth it. I’d recommend it, especially if you’re on a slower connection.
Yeah, that’ll happen some times. When I used AoL and posted to a different forum, I used to regularly lose my post when AoL disconnected me for “inactivity,” despite thirty or more minutes of constant typing in an open browser window. That’s one of the chief reasons I’m no longer an AoL subscriber.
I can sometimes save a post that gets lost by back-clicking to that page again. I’ll see a ghost-image of my post, which I can then highlight, copy and paste into a new message box. Most of the time I just take it as a sign and go on to another thread.
Anytime I’m composing a lengthy post, I open a draft email and write it there (complete with coding), then cut and paste it into the reply box. Not only is it still available if the post gets lost; it’s also easier to proofread it beforehand because of the kind and size of font I use for emails.
I’m still learning the ropes around here; next time I’ll not take so much time to write a post. By the way, do you know just how many minutes they have the timer set for this/these forums? I don’t have a “clip board” on this msntv2 gizmo, thus I think I’ll try and get by with knowing how much time I’ve got.
And thanks for welcoming me; it’s great that such a great and active site exists!
Thanks EddyTeddyFreddy; glad to have found this place.
All your recommandations are great, and I thank you for taking the time to lay it out; but like I said in another post, I am using msntv2. Had a computer once but unplugged it due to all the germs and many hassles of trying to figure out it’s bells and whistles.
