OK… so I’m out picking nightcrawlers last night (if you don’t know, it’s not as crazy as it sounds…well maybe it is) and it occurs to me that these suckers are highly underrated for speed. They can flat out move when it comes to escaping my clutches. I believe they decide to skedaddle due to the effect of the flashlight, but I am not sure if it is a reaction to heat from the light or the fact that all of a sudden it is light.
Anyway, my question is does anyone know the fastest speed ever achieved by a nightcrawler? I’m sure there must be government research conducted on the Salt Flats that covers this.
This from a guy named Sledman? I have this image of a worm strapped to a rocket chair, flattened against the seat like a tape worm, its head flapping in the 300 mph wind.
Seriously, someone in the teeming millions must know what speed a nightcrawler can achieve under its own power.
Not that I don’t doubt the government may have strapped on to a rocket sled. For that matter I think we have put worms in space which would mean they were moving along at a pretty good clip. However, we are looking for a land speed record under their own power.
Sounds like an opportunity for some original research, Sled.
It’s unlikely that a doper (or even Cecil) would have that information at his fingertips. Call your local university biology department and ask for the worm guy.
Well, I TRIED to help you out on this one Sled-doggy-dogg, but every search engine I tried either gave me X-Men sites or bait shops. Christ, AskJeeves didn’t even seem to know what a nightcrawler was!
