Actually, that’s the only realistic bit in the whole scenario.
South African “Taxis” are not your NY yellow cabs or london black cabs - they are mini-buses like VW or Toyota 10 seaters, with modified to take 15 - 18 people, and frequently packed with up to 20. Given the atrocious train and bus services to Black townships in Johannesburg, they are by far the most common (and cheapest) means of public transport. And yes, big political rallies and soccer matches could have thousands of people transported by taxi.

People who make that argument, completely seriously, are obviously full of shet. Notice I don’t use the famous 4-letter word, but rather the word “shet”, which is completely synonymous with the obscene version, only it isn’t obscene.
So are you still living in South African? I assume you are. Can we in America assume that this rumor is not spreading like the wildfire WND says it is? Even if so, how much is it actually believed?

I am well aware of that, however, they are not saying nigga(even though they do say that also), they are saying nigger. The general reason they are not criticized is they are black.

The article’s name wasn’t on your thread. You can express that it is a dumbass and offensive article without being an offensive dumbass yourself. I’ve never understood the rationale that, hey, it’s not you saying something, it’s you pretending to be someone else – so somehow you get a pass on the offensive things you post or say.

Oh yes, still here. I had not heard this sort of rumour since, oh, 1994 and the transition to true democracy. None of it is to be believed, except that there are a few nutcases in the country who might believe it would happen to them, given the sterling example of our next-door neighbour Zimbabwe. It should be pointed out that even there, Whites just had their farms confiscated and were beaten if they resisted, no organised pogrom is happening. Whites in the cities are (relatively) fine, AFAIK
Lizard, The big tie-in with Mandela is because a lot of people attribute the relatively peaceful nature of our eventual transition to full democracy to his leadership of the ANC/Communist Party alliance. The total lack of vengeance on the part of someone locked up for 27 years on outr version of Devil’s Island kinda served as a wonderful example to evryone, I think. And of course as soon as he goes, that’d all break down 'cos all Africans are savages, really! :rolleyes:

That’s an interesting rationale: “I will end racism by posting in a racist manner.” It doesn’t have the hallmarks of a particularly successful strategy. It does, however, show that you’re the type of person who indiscriminately uses highly offensive language – and in a thread title, too, where everyone in the whole flipping forum has to read it – and then declares that he doesn’t care if he’s offended people.
You came across as an offensive dumbass, and now you’re defending your right to be an offensive dumbass. And be my guess. I never said you didn’t have the right to be an offensive dumbass if you wanted. But that’s what you look like, IMO. If that offends you I don’t care.
I didn’t see the usage as offensive. And the poster wasn’t being an offensive dumbass in the slightest. Even before I read the post, I saw it as a sarcastic intro to an offensive news article. The usage reflected the attitude of the post well. I can tell by reading the WHOLE post (that’s the clue there, reading the WHOLE post, not just reading ONE WORD and a having a friggin’ seizure over it), that he was as offended as we all are by racist attitudes. Gah!

Here’s a clue - when I posted above that “it’s conclusive, the taximeters are already running”, I didn’t actually mean that. Maybe I got a pass because I didn’t use the word “nigger”. If so, I officially amend it to “it’s conclusive, them crazy niggers are already saving up the taxi fare”.
If one has been banned from a message board for being a troll, and one returns despite being banned, one would be wise to not repeat behavior that got one banned in the first place. One would also be wise to not behave in such a manner that will cause the mods/admins to take a close look at one.
