I’ve never seen a banner ad, because I go straight to the message board homepage, not the Straight Dope homepage. He’s technically right, apparently there is one banner ad on the column’s homepage, but he’s still a moron, because that ad has no bearing on the message boards.

(Ironically, I checked the ad on the SD home page just now… and the ad was one for the Reader itself. How do they generate revenue by advertising themselves?)

Evidently someone else has no reading comprehension. On the first page, the OP claimed that the Reader gets benefit from these boards, but some of us are too stupd to see how. So, I asked for an explanation, and the request went ignored. I asked again how the boards benefit the Reader, and this was the explanation I got
I pointed out that the classified ads were income from the Reader, not from the boards, and was referred to the banner ad at the top of the homepage, which I mistakenly assumed meant the main forum listing page.
