Inspired by this thread, what awful military analogies could you come up with for the pundits to use?
Please, no Zero Wing references. Those would win by default.

“Shock and awe”: the fact that the U.S. military supposedly doesn’t use napalm anymore, I was still expecting something like the ending of “Apocalypse Now”. No particular historical or military reason for this; I think it’s because that movie made such an indelible impression on me as a kid.
The impressive human-wave attacks that come at night near Al-Najaf and at the forwardmost points outside of Baghdad: I keep thinking of the giant bug onslaughts from “Starship Troopers”. And I know better than to mistake anything in that movie for any actual or recommended military procedure, tactic, or strategy. “ST” may well be the silliest “military” flick ever made, and yet that’s the persistent image that keeps coming to mind.
That, and Tod Browning’s “freaks” crawling to avenge on of their own…
“It’s hammer time.” Actual pundit-quote now. Hee hee.
“We’re going into to Baghdad like R. Kelly going into a girl scout meeting!”
“Tonight we’re going to party like it’s 1991!”
“It’s the end of the world as we know it…AND I FEEL FINE”
