  1. “Smells Like Teen Spirit” - Nirvana. As much as I hate that song, it screams 90’s grunge.
  2. “Hey Jealousy” - Gin Blossoms. I was torn between this, and “Good” by Better than Ezra.
  3. “When I come Around” -Green Day.
  4. “Paranoid Android” - Radiohead.
  5. “Hit Me Baby One More Time” - You might not want ot think about it, but pop was huge in the late 90’s, and it wouldn’t be an accurate representation if we didn’t have one of the more popular pop songs here.

What’s really excluded thus far is hip-hop and rap.

For me, personally, the top 10-15 slots will be dominated by grunge and rock. Were I able to name a 100-song playlist, say … I could probably name 30 or so hip-hop/rap songs that take me back to a time and place in the 90s. But the hip-hop stamp was not impressed as deeply on me than on some other folks.

Under the Bridge: RHCP. Surprised I’m the first to mention it, it was the second one that came to mind behind Teen Spirit.

I Saw the Sign: Ace of Base. Sorry, but it belongs.

Aint Nothin but a G Thang: Dr. Dre. Like it or not, The Chronic really set off the rap thing, I think.
