- Man on the Moon- R.E.M
- To Be With You - Mr. Big
- Let Her Cry- Hootie and the Blowfish
5.No Rain- Blind Melon

SCREAM the 90s? I agree on “No Rain”. Lessee here …

So many to chose from (I loved the 90’s music)
Ok at random
1979- Smashing Pumpkins
Smells like Teen Spirit- Nirvana
Jeremy- Pearl Jam
Blackhole Sun -Soundgarden
No Rain- Blind Melon
…can’t believe I forgot Pearl Jam. Pretend I said them instead of Bush. :smack:
What’s really excluded thus far is hip-hop and rap.
For me, personally, the top 10-15 slots will be dominated by grunge and rock. Were I able to name a 100-song playlist, say … I could probably name 30 or so hip-hop/rap songs that take me back to a time and place in the 90s. But the hip-hop stamp was not impressed as deeply on me than on some other folks.
“Gonna Make You Sweat” - C+C Music Factory
“Smells Like Teen Spirit”- Nirvana
“Alive” - Pearl Jam
“Two Princes” - Spin Doctors
“You Oughta Know” - Alanis Morrissette
“Saturday Night”- Whigfield
“No Limits”- 2 Unlimited
“The Key, The Secret”- Urban Cookie Collective
“What is Love?”- Haddaway
“Storm '95” - The Fifth Dimension
My list will be skewed towards the late 90s - I didn’t enter high school until 2000. Also, because I was so young and impressionable, music taste then isn’t the same as it is now. Also tried to pick things other people didn’t.
Barbie Girl - Aqua
Freak on a Leash - Korn
Cruel Summer - Ace of Base
Everybody (Backstreet’s Back) - Backstreet Boys
Candle in the Wind - Elton John
My head is about to explode. Only 5 songs?!?!
I Am Barely Breathing by Duncan Sheik
Summertime by The Sundays
Good by Better Than Ezra
Lovefool by The Cardigans
Building A Mystery by Sarah McLachlan
I’m actually lucky the OP only specified 5 songs, because otherwise I would be up till 6.
Trying to name some that haven’t been mentioned.
Standing Outside a Broken Phonebooth With Money in My Hand by Primitive Radio Gods
*Semi-charmed Kind of Life *by Third Eye Blind
Longview by Green Day (anything off of Dookie really)
Tonight, tonight by the Smashing Pumpkins
Solitude by Edwin McCain
*In the House of Stone and Light * by Martin Page
As I Lay Me Down by Sophie B. Hawkins
Run Around by Blues Traveler
Since all my first choices (Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Soundgarden) have already been mentioned, I’ll add:
Cantaloop by Us3
Who Will Save Your Soul? by Jewel
Linger by The Cranberries
Give It Away by the Red Hot Chili Peppers
You Oughta Know by Alanis Morissette
This WAS my last one but then I remembered Blind Melon.
These songs rock!
Smells Like Teen Spirit: Nirvana
Disarm: Smashing Pumpkins (tough choice with that, 1979, and Bullet w/ Butterfly Wings)
Under the Bridge: RHCP. Surprised I’m the first to mention it, it was the second one that came to mind behind Teen Spirit.
I Saw the Sign: Ace of Base. Sorry, but it belongs.
Aint Nothin but a G Thang: Dr. Dre. Like it or not, The Chronic really set off the rap thing, I think.
Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana
Under the Bridge - Red Hot Chili Peppers BabaBooey beat me to it, but I’m also pretty surprised that it didn’t get mentioned earlier.
Wannabe - Spice Girls I can’t even hear any part of this without being instantly transported to the nineties.
Nuthin’ But a G Thang - Dr Dre/Snoop Doggy Dogg
Paranoid Android - Radiohead
Honourable mentions would go to Oasis, The La’s, The Cardigans, Ace of Base, Blind Melon, Tupac, Puff Daddy and/or The Notorious BIG and Fatboy Slim.
There were alot of MOR/college rock songs that were huge in the US that never quite made it over to this side of the pond.
