Here’s a few threads we’ve had this year on the topic:

Big Ten talking about being big 12Let’s make a new SUPER college conference

Obviously, it’s supposed to read: Assume recent movement HASN’T happened.

These teams are already in the Big East.

They don’t play D-I football (yet)

Your proposition looks to be based almost entirely upon geography and heavily southern biased (no mention of the MAC teams, Army, or Navy). It doesn’t seem to take into consideration money, size of the institution, money, size and quality of the facilities, money, possible expansion into new markets, and again money.

Why would the Big Ten accept Iowa St.? The current members would be losing money according to their revenue sharing model. Why would South Carolina be willing to leave the SEC to most likely earn less money in the ACC, especially with Miami and FSU gone? If you were going to kick out a current SEC school, why not Arkansas so they can go be with the Southwestern Conf. buddies. How the heck does Boise State get into the PAC-10 but Arizona, a school twice as big in large metropolitan area with a stadium with 20,000 more seats, get relegated to the new Mountain West.

Is this what you want to happen, think could happen, or just playing with scenarios? Because I can tell you right now, this has no chance of ever happening.

All points, by the way etv, that were discussed extremely thoroughly in the first linked thread.

And why would they start?

It is DEFINITELY geography driven. Re: MAC, other than removing Temple, (Oh, add Buffalo to the Big East, BTW), they are perfect, IMO. And I’m basically just messing around, stirring the pot.

Incidentally, In my alignment, the service academies are Independents, though it wouldn’t offend me if Army and Navy went to the Big East, and leave Air Farce in the new Mt. West. To the Boise St. vs AZ schools-the conferences would get too big, because that domino would send the New Mexico schools, and CSU into the Big 12. And likely the Utahs into the Pac 10.

As an actual proposal, I’d hate it and am glad it’ll never happen. You’re demoting my team to a weaker conference based on geography, and promoting Georgetown from I-AA in our place.

If you’re making a geographic fantasy, why are Miami, Florida and Florida State not in the Sun Belt? Why is North Texas not in the Big 12?

The Sun Belt has no history of credible football play, and the Big 12 is already the Big 16 (or so) in my alignment.
