I got a solicitation for a credit card to be affiliated with a charitable organization I am a member of (hereinafter “the Organization”).
The letter says that “each time you use your card to make a purchase, a contribution will automatically be made to [the Organization].”
How can I verify whether this is true and, if so, how much is contributed to the Organization? Do I need to be wary about anything else?

There are “affiliated” cards that work this way. For example, my university and Citibank have an affiliation program that gives a small percentage (1%? ½%?) of your monthly purchase value to the university. In exchange the university gives Citibank access to its alumni list and ads in the newsletter. The monthly statement shows the “contribution” made to the university, but I’m not sure that you could actually verify that the contributiuons were made as claimed - but Citibank would be in a world of legal and PR trouble if they were found to have cheated.
