Is it legal for creditors to call you at work? For example, say Joe Smith owes Visa $XX.XX dollars that he hasn’t paid and they send a collection agency after him. I have heard that it is illegal for the collection agency to call Joe at work to hound him about this. Is this true? If so, how would Joe inform the collection agency of this? What authorities enforce this law / regulation?
