Creepy 9/11 stuff in James Burke's original Connections series (from 1978)

I just bought the original Connections series from 1978. I saw it then, and maybe once or twice since.

The very first scene in the very first episode is at the base of the Twin Towers, including that gold globe. Then he describes different things that happened in NYC the night of the 1965 northeastern US blackout. One of them is an airliner that was on final approach to JFK when it lost the IFL signal (because of the power failure). It was flight 911!

Then, at the end of the 4th episode (Faith in Numbers) he’s on Ellis Island describing how the computer punchcard lead to such huge changes and how it keeps the modern world from falling down. The camera is in an extreme close-up of a card, which James Burke lowers as he says this line, revealing (wait for it) the Twin Towers!

I know it’s all just coincidence (maybe this belongs in MPSIMS) but God was it weird (not to mention depressing)…

Is that The Day the Universe Changed? It’s available? On DVD, or on VHS?

No, TDTUC and Connections are two seperate series. Universe was done in 1986 and was even better than Connections. I got Connections on DVD at Ambrose Video. TDTUC isn’t out yet.

$595.00!!!

Whoa!!!

I’m looking at their site right now. It’s listed for $149.99. Where are you seeing $595? (Yeah, $150 is still high for a DVD set but it may be worth it…)

Oh, and Hail Ants, thanks for pointing is out. I’ve been waiting for years for Connections to show up! Strangely enough, I was just describing the series to a coworker yesterday and commented on the fact that the first episode involved the World Trade Center.

Ah, nevermind, now I see it. The VHS version is $595 but the DVD version is only $150.

There’s also a code on their homepage for 10% off on you first on-line order from them…

Just popping in to say that the bit in Connections (or maybe it’s the other one?) when Burke sits in an altitude chamber trying to write “mary had a little lamb” and then faints: my dad was watching him faint through the window of the chamber.

I just came across this old thread after noticing the same thing. Then I found this:
