Every afternoon I take the three dogs on the trail in the woods behind our house. I let the dogs loose back there so they can run off some energy and sniff to their hearts’ content. Yesterday, as we were walking along the dogs all of a sudden started sniffing madly at something on the ground and then they’d lift their heads and sniff the air. Then they started jumping at a tree. I thought that it must have been a squirrel and they saw it climb the tree. I looked up, and there twisted around some branches about 7’ up were the entrails of some animal. I’m guessing maybe a rabbit. Some of the intestines were wrapped around the branch, the stomach and more intestines were swinging in the air. The Great Dane could easily reach it when standing on his hind legs, so he was trying to lick and eat it. It took me yelling and running in the other direction to get them to finally leave the area. Hopefully, an animal had a midnight snack last night and it will be gone when I go back today.
I’m just hoping it was leftovers from an owl or hawk and that it wasn’t a warning from the Blair Witch!
