Crescent Lake Mystery?

I was half-way listening to the radio yesterday, and there was a story about a documentary fil called The [surname]s: The Crescent Lake Mystery. My question is not about the film, but about the ‘mystery’.

Apparently, some people went missing and their car was found in Crescent Lake (WA). I wasn’t really listening, but I thought I heard that their car went into the lake in the '20s or '30s. That piqued my interest. Then I heard something about a lid from a washing mashine that was the same model as the one bought by the people who disappeared, and that they were known to have been hauling that washing machine at the time of their disappearance.

Does anyone know the details of the incident? Sounds intriguing.

A Google search found this article. Sounds like the story you’re looking for.

I’ve kinda followed this for a while.
The story I read was that a couple drove to Seattle to buy a washer and never returned home. At the time it was suspected that they had driven off the road into Crescent Lake during a storm, but nothing was ever found. Crescent is so deep, searching wasn’t possible unlit recently.
In 2002, they found several cars from the same era, and, as Nightingale noted, their car as (probably) found. As far as I know, they still haven’t found any bodies.
I believe they are still surveying the lake bottom.

That’s it! Thanks.
