Cricket Here

I think it’s a cricket, but it has come into my very high upstairs second-floor computer/CD/media etc. room (post-Victorian farmhouse, built 1891, windows “rehabbed”) … it showed up on the top edge of the the window when I pulled the upper half of this double-hung window down.

Any idea if this would be “good luck” ? I could use some rite now.

Imma go for the obvious: is it wearing a waistcoat and a top hat?

Jiminy? I WISH  Thanks for the idea and memories.

Just be happy it ain’t in your ear! My wife told me a sickening thing about such an incident recently – made me scared to go to sleep!

Have your thought of a name for it yet, other than the obvious?

I like Carlos.

As for luck, maybe you could wander around a horse barn…

Well, it’s supposed to be bad luck to kill a cricket in your house, so I guess it’s good luck to have it in the first place.

Also if you have a cat, it makes a great toy.

Also if you have a preschooler, it makes a great toy. A particularly juicy one has been hanging out in our garage recently. Every time my daughter sees it, she stops to *pet *it.

Uh-oh. My sister, who I’m staying with, has them in droves and I’ve been killing half a dozen a day. Her basement laundry literally sounds like you’re camping outside, there’s so much chirping.

As a cricket tragic, my first thought was, “Who’s playing?” :o
