Cricket World Cup 2011

Sri Lanka or England

Fun for you. Not good for my nerves.

OK then, I’ll play

Pakistan v West Indies: The Windies, They have been almost as variable as England but I fancy some of the young lads to do the damage.

On March 23; Pakistan Day!

It could be worse - you could be an England fan.

I tried to use stats guru to see Pakistan’s record on games played on 23 March but couldn’t figure out how to. Great photo of workers erecting a giant Shoaib Akhtar on the front page of cricinfo though.

Shoaib Akhtar and Shahid Afridi both.

Nearly had a fit, on the way to Court this morning, seeing a bat wielding Shahid Afridi looking down on me.

Pakistan and West Indies. Go for Pakistan- Windies are simply not good enough.

Australia and India. Heart says Australia, head says India. I will go for Australia though - hopefully if they prepare a road, it will bring Australi’as batsmen closer to India.

NZ versus RSA. Sorry Kiwis, you did well, but at least you go home early.

England versus Sri Lanka. On the sub continent, it will have to be Sri Lanka.

Looked like a relatively fine start by the Windies - then I look away for a moment, and now they are at 16/3.

At least we know that if there is one team left in this tournament that can match that kind of performance with the bat, it’s Pakistan.

West Indies 8 for 80. AK84 out celebrating somewhere. Even the Faroe Islands couldn’t lose this match.

West Indies playing “Collapso” Cricket according to one of the commentators.

Grimpixie, I am quite happy about my $50 on RSA to win the tournament now (and that is probably the kiss of death for them).

Oh sweet lordy!
I picked the Windies thinking they would flash the bat and score quickly.

Oh dear…and yet, who knows? Are there any subcontinent pitches on which 100-ish is defendable? I’m not seeing pictures so I don’t know if it is behaving itself.

I remember many years ago in a final, the Windies were the red hot favourites to win. India made about 160 and seemed gone.

Len Pascoe (ex Australian fast bowler, not noted brain surgeon) said they had enough to win. They did. Mind you, that was in England.

Are you watching Cicero? is it a frisky pitch? The BBC text feed seems to suggest it is a slow scorer.

Faroe Islands couldn’t. Pakistan can.

Pitch seems to be sporty. Windies innings done in by poor shot selection, good bowling and terror of spinners.

Yes, as AK84 said. I can’t see too much wrong with the pitch. Pakistan bowled pretty well but not like demons.

And my Internet is dying :frowning:

Ah, Pakistan currently 83 for 0. needing 30 off 35+ overs.

In the words of Spinal Tap, “how much more wrong could my prediction have been? None. None more wrong”

I just hope my other selections prove to be correct.

Wow, West Indies got curb-stomped. Awesome display!

A bowlers World Cup. In the sub continent.

Well that was convincing - I didn’t see the game (damned time zones) but it sounds as if the Pakistani slow bowlers completely bamboozled the West Indian batsmen.

This Pakistan team really are starting to look like the team of 1992 - slow start in the group stages - a win over the leading team in the group (New Zealand in 1992, Australia this year) followed by a win over the same team in the semis (possible if Australia win tonight).

As for tonight’s game - I’m sticking with my earlier prediction - Australia to win, with India’s attack failing to keep a lid on the Australian batsmen.
