Crimes Batman has commited!

Kind of based of this old thread of mine . This argument has come back and I’m trying to find evidence to support me.
So,what laws do you know of that Batman has broken? (Can you be specific as to where you saw this?)

Unlawful entry/breaking and entering. Batman will often times break into private businesses or homes in his efforts to fight crime.

Coercion, Batman will often threaten people with physical harm if they do not produce the information he desires. For example, hanging that dirty cop upside down a few stories above the ground in Batman Begins. Something he’s done in the comics as well.

Child endangerment. Robin is a minor, what kind of responsible guardian puts a child in a situation where he might be hanged, beaten, shot, or otherwise mutliated on a regular basis? Cite, any issue where Robin fights crime.

Marc

I bet Gotham City has light-pollution laws that would make the Bat Signal a no-no.

Unlicensed Automobile.

Those flames coming out the back would melt the plates.

Assault and Battery. Theft. Stalking.

Trespassing, creating a public nuisance, speeding, driving an unlicensed vehicle on the city streets, littering (how many times have you seen him retrieve a Batarang?), plus various laws about entering a place of business or public building while wearing concealing garments.

Well, but Batman never turns that on. The police do.

I suspect he violates a dozen traffic laws before he gets TO Gotham from the Batcave every day.

Oops. You’re right. Those ferschlugginer cops have been corrupted by Batman.

The Batman has killed people – in the early days, he carried a revolver and wasn’t afraid to use it.

Cite? I know he carried, but when did he ever kill with it?

Trespassing, most frequently

Ummm…Vampires.

And Werewolves.

I know it ain’t murder to bump off somebody who is dead.

Either Attempted Murder or at the least, Depraved Indifference for letting various bad guys die. He bricked the KGBeast up behind a wall and left him there.

Wiretapping. Illegal possession of explosives. Computer hacking. Illegally obtaining classified data. Kidnapping. Assaulting an (corrupt) Officer. Assaulting a (corrupt) Federal Agent. Resisting Arrest. Leaving the scene of a felony. Possession of burglary tools. Unlicensed possession of restricted drugs. Unlicensed possession of restricted electronics. Passport violations.

Hell, he probably has a pirated copy of the source code for Windows. :stuck_out_tongue:

He probably has some unlicensed munitions on the various Bat-vehicles.

Many jurisdictions (including Gotham, surely) have anti-mask laws.

Then for all the times the police told him to “Hold it right there!” and he just disappeared into the darkness, there’s failure to obey a lawful order of a police officer.

Back when he had the batplane, I’m sure he violated numerous FAA regulations.

Public boners.

I doubt the batcave has been approved by a licensed building inspector.

Well, the Batcave is a natural underground formation. The various tunnels in and out are problematic, though.

The Batplane and Batcopter are technically stolen from WayneTech. Hey, they’re missing from inventory and there’s no bill of sale. And I’m pretty sure Wayne Manor isn’t zoned as an airport/heliport/submarine base, so there’s problems with that.

The trophies in the Batcave (giant penny, robot dinosaur, etc) are all either stolen property or pilfered evidence.

In some Grant Morrison stories, he has a tesseract that opens out to the “planet” Pluto and a UFO. Both of these violate laws of physics and stretch my credulity beyond what’s permitted by creative license.

Vigilantism (which I believe is illegal.)

He’s in violation of Gotham’s “No Wearing of Leather Man-Panties in Front of The Children” act.
