Critcize my DVD collection - and suggest new ones.

I’ve finally managed to put the collection online. Everything from Bablon 5 to obscure Korean horror flicks. What am I missing? What cultural niches have I been avoiding? As long as it’s enjoyable, I like anything from bona fide classics to uber dreck.

Help me dopers!

Wow, well your collection is big enough that I don’t have time to look for holes. Does that help?

Great Collection!

Forgive me if my suggestions are already on the list- I did skim the entire list but it’s possible I’ve overlooked many scattered titles.

What I noticed is that you seem to be lacking in Silents. You seem to enjoy the Sci-fi/Horror stuff so I’d suggest starting off with these titles from my own DVD collection (No! don’t actually take them from my collection!).

Lang’s Metropolis
Murnau’s Nosferatu
Check out John Barrymore’s great performance in Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde!
ditto Chaney’s performance in Phantom of the Opera!

and of course, since we’re talking Silents, You really need to get some Chaplin and Keaton.

I notice you’ve got Rushmore, but no The Royal Tenenbaums. There’s a good criterion collection edition of that.

My favorite movie ever is The Right Stuff.

Have you ever seen The Thirteenth Floor? If you liked The Matrix, Dark City, and eXistenZ, then you might like it. (although, IMHO, it’s not as good as those)

I see you are a fan of Buffy and Angel. For heaven’s sake! Order Firefly - The Complete Series right NOW, damn it!

:smack: :smack:

With the exception of Blackadder 2, The Young Ones & The League of Gentlemen, I see a slight lack of contemporary British comedy DVD’s in your collection:

I have no idea if you are bothered or not, but DVD’s I own that I watch over and over include the following:

All the other Blackadder series (1, 3 & 4)
Spaced (series 1 &2)*
Black Books (series 1,2 & 3)*
Father Ted (series 1, 2 &3)
Alan Partridge (with Steve Coogan)
Phoenix Nights (with Peter Kay)
Fawlty Towers
The Office
Red Dwarf
Men Behaving Badly

  • Most highly recommended

Several posters (including myself) have listed our collections at DVD Aficionado.

Get your hands on “Azumi” by any…means…necessary. Since you like Asian Horror flicks you’d probably like “Versus” as well.

The Producers
A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum
Firefly
Marx Brothers
Fawlty Towers
The Twelve Chairs

Everything Kurosawa ever touched in any way.
