Critter Cam out back.

And we have 28 from the 192 group::

The 28
Zeus walked to the North today. It was his choice, he picks direction speed. I’m just his protection detail.

North walk.

Gah::::::, processing & sorting 874 pictures in taken in 48 hrs. or less.

Too scared to check close…

33 from the 873 group.

873 group

Birds, squirrels, a cat and I only kept 37 pictures out of 1432. I changed the camera settings because my eyes are esploding…

37 from 1432

Added 15 from group 143 to yesterday’s album. I changed the camera settings and think I may be missing some good shots but there were only 143 to go through. That is good. Yesterday’s group had 1432 pictures.

Squirrels are smart & persistent. :rigs: I need to work out a better & stronger solution. ( $$$ )

Should start here or go back to the previous post for the whole album link.

Well, I tried fighting the squirrels…
They won the first round.
Don’t want to use hot pepper powder.

Looks like I have some thinking to do.

So far the squirrels are winning.

I love this Thread.

I hear ya on the squirrels. I think I’ve got them locked out of the feeders at this point, but now they are eating the (still green!) tomatoes on my back porch. Bastards. I went by Tractor Supply this morning and bought a rabbit cage to put my tomato plants in (they’re in pots). Already did a similar thing with my strawberry plants and that’s done well.

And look - there’s Blitzen! I think she might be pregnant too …

Well, keep coming… We like folks to see what we catch on camera.

Just playing with a camera while sitting on the deck this evening.
Zeus & Birds.

21 pictures.

Evening fun.

Gonna be a big album someday.
I’ll post a starting point as I add new batches.
I am using up too many albums.

Starting here, with 55 saved from 748.

Big album start…

14 pictures added to the big bird album from group 328

14 from 328 pictures.

I’ve been futzing a lot with my cam - it doesn’t like to take pics of birds - too fast? too small? - not sure. I have had to get it really close to one of the feeders to work at all.

Latest results - bird fight in the first frame is probably the best one.

#8 & #9 are American Red bellies.
Yes fist picture is way cool.

Birds are hard, bright back grounds are killer as you get silhouettes and no detail.

Even if you have to use a tripod, if it won’t get stolen, put it where the feeders are down sun during the time of most activity.

Need fast reset, not so much shutter speed as you don’t usually have any control of that.
I have use 4, 3, 2 shots repeating fast & normal with a rest at 10, 20, 30 second interval.

If you have ‘flash’ and have it on, the first of a series will look different due to that. You need to get as many pictures as you can as quick as you can and be ready to cull them down to get good ones. 98% are not good or empty.

I have used the black Moultrie with “D” cells and now I have a browning as the Moultrie died.

I have it in trail cam mode and have settled on 2 shot sequences with 30 second delays between sequences if there is a a lot of movement. Sometimes the wind moves stuff enough to set it off and I seldom get 2 good pictures in a row. Birds are real ‘flighty’ and don’t stick very long. Get a seed and they are off.

With big critters like dear I use more shots at normal pace instead of fast pace. ( interval ) More apt to get a good picture that way. Birds are hard but if you are taking the pictures as big as you can, you note that I sometimes just take the middle of the shot with the bird and process that.

Have some routines worked out using 'Irfanview© & batch processing or I would never get any sleep. Bawahahahah

You look to be plenty close, how big is the original from the camera and how much do you resize them and other stuff to pretty them up?

Looking good so far. Just get a zillion pictures and cull them down and then get your batch processing the best you can and call it good. If you work each picture individually, you can’t go through enough pictures to get good ones. Pictures are free. Let’er rip !!!

Keep it up, I like what you are showing us.

Good eye on your night shots. Catch then critters …

Gus

I don’t do much in the way of cropping/processing - if it needs more than 2 seconds’ worth, it’s not worth keeping IMO.

Unfortunately I don’t have a good place to put the camera where it wouldn’t catch the sun for part of the day. I’ll keep futzing.

I can get much better pictures of the birds by just sitting on the porch with my DSLR, though I wouldn’t have gotten a picture of that fight that way, that’s for sure. And the squirrel ‘photobombs’ are pretty funny.

I like the night shots the best, really, as I get things I wouldn’t otherwise know are there. I’d love to catch a coyote - I know they are here but very elusive.

oops

Zeus is hard to resist.

I could not resist.

More birds & deer in the Big Album.

They should start here.

Just hanging out on the deck the past muggy days.

On the deck

These ladieshave taken to hanging around behind the garage in the afternoon these last few days.
