Cross-cultural raw foods

In sending someone to this wiki link on daikon, I note that daikon is used extensively across Asia. I call it mooli myself, being Indian.

What other raw comestibles have this kind of coverage? I don’t mean in the modern day, where everything can be shipped from place to place. I mean things that people have been using through the generations, with their own names and their own recipes for them?

Well how about the Yam.

I like xiao gu qie, xiao ku fan qie, aubergine, mock tomato, or brinjal. Fried up in a pan, baby.
