@Spoons, @needscoffee - there are only two hours left here.
1.Spook
2.Spirit
3.Specter
4.Shadow
5.Mrs. Muir’s main man
Even with limited participation, many good clues. I particularly liked:
and
But gotta go with this as the winner:
@Knowed_Out You are up.
OK, let’s go with a name.
Bruce
- Will is starring in a Christmas movie
- He’s The Boss
- He entered the dragon
- He plays the keyboards because that’s the way it is
- Dick’s darker partner
- Laura’s dad
- Comedian portrayed in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
- Jim Carrey’s Almighty role
- The former Caitlyn Jenner
- King of Scotland Robert the ______
- Ontario peninsula
- Brandon’s father
- Nowadays, Caitlyn
- _____llosis
- Jump’s television mother
- A suburb of the Belconnen district of Canberra.
- This is what people call Hulk at home.
- Leader of the Fish-Friendly Sharks Support Group.
- Common name that rhymes with Zeus.
- The most famous oak tree in Scotland.
This one gets points for creativity and teaching me a new word, but I’m going to have to turn it down because as far as I can remember, fill-in-the-blank wasn’t used for partial words.
Bruces Jenner, Wayne and Banner would be the most obvious ones, and would thus be easiest for crossword solvers to get. This one required some thought and was more challenging, so I pick this as the winner. Spoon’s “Jump’s television mother” gets an honorable mention because it required some lateral thinking, but PT’s was funnier. Congrats PT!
Yay. Thank you.
The new word is an easy one:
America
- She played Betty, but wasn’t that ugly
- Sacha Baron Cohen asked who this was in 2018
- Latin this includes North and South
- This Captain led a Civil War in 2016
- Country in “I am Erica Jong”
- Canada’s pants?
- Champion yacht of 1851
- Neil Diamond 1980 hit
- What Arlo greeted
- With “Little,” Antarctic base
I got it, I got it! I’m so pleased with myself (meaning Ithink I know Spoons clues). My favorite is ‘Canada’s pants’.
- Where Paul and Art marry their fortunes together
- Where God shed his grace
- They loved muskrats before Captain & Tenille did
- Where to find Don McClean’s pie
- Where Anita and the Sharks like to be
I’m going to give the award for this round right now, to set things in motion.
Of course it was a hard decision to make, but I had to do it. At first sight, the clues provided by needscoffee appeared a bit too heavy for my liking. I wanted to perform a good job though and so I went through every participant’s clues, reviewing them all from A to Z and making sure I understood what each meant. I appreciated the fun of all the contributions, and I mean it - it’s not just words. And although I can easily regard Knowed_Out and Spoons as masters of wit, eventually the narrative or evocative quality of needscoffe’s clues made me declare him the winner.
@needscoffee, it is your turn now.
Hey, at least I got a laugh out of Boo for “Canada’s pants.”
Well done, needscoffee! Give us our next answer.
I wonder if we could include a feature of the game where people visiting the thread could place their vote on a poll or something. Maybe this could spice things up.
Her, FYI. And thanks!
New word: COFFEE
I am sorry. I had a brief hesitation, but then…
(That’s because I would rather be like Alexander the Great than Hamlet…)
