Thanks! Yes, I also appreciate the different styles of clues that are being posted–it’s interesting to see how others approach the challenge.

I think this one has to take the prize:
As a lawyer, I don’t mind saying that I’d have difficulty with the clue upon first encountering it. Oh, I’d get there eventually, but if that’s my impression, I can only imagine what the layperson might think.
OK, KO, you’re up!
Thanks Spoons! It’s a line frequently used by arguing attorneys on Law & Order: “It’s black letter law, your honor!”
The new word is DOUGH.
hmm…this one is a bit tougher for me to get creative beyond the usual “moolah” or “pizza need” type clues (though for a Tuesday or so, “pizza need” works fine: 5 letters and you have two words, DOUGH and SAUCE that could fit there, with a middle U common in both). I’ll try:
Nah, that’s all I got.
I’m going to post a rule revision:
Instead of requiring a certain number of entries per word, how about we say you can post up to 5 per word, no more, but if you run dry at two, or you have one that you think is such a winner, you don’t want surround it with clutter, that can be all you post.
I know sometimes I post a really lame one that I don’t like at all, just to fill out the list, and other times, I come up with a really good one, but only one, and end up not posting that round.
Oh, I thought that was the rule already. But I agree. I was also thinking of doing five clues based on difficulty level from Monday through Friday NY Times, but that’s a bit much.
Grats Rivkah.
I don’t think we need to make hard and fast rules on number of entries or degree of difficulty. Go as far as your inspiration takes you. Fun over form and all that.
Next: FIXED
Knowed Out’s is probably the best approach. I’d suggest also that all your entries need not be posted at once–for example, if you post one or two clues now, but get struck by another inspiration three hours later, you can post that too.
Okay, let’s continue with FIXED.
Mazel tov, Spoons.
