Cruciverbally yours...

Naw, I’ll just happily sit back and think that at least I managed one difficult one. Your answer for SP09 was correct, by the way–nicely done!

orange-red mushrooms?

Hardly a common phrase, but at least it produces google hits.

Nope. Here’s a hint… there may be a common theme to the SP06 to SP10 series.

I see the theme. Not helping. I give up.

So, we’re still working on:

SP10: [60s agent] [Buttons] [Grows]

right?

I think my last one it out too:

B2: [precedes line] [kind of globe] [early hockey venue]

Bayard, yours is stumping me too. If there’s no further interest, should we just post the answers?

I might like to take a stab at a slightly - JUST slightly - better focused clue.

I’m stumped on both of them – redos of the clues would be great.

In the meantime, here’s an easy one to get people going again:

TW5: [King topper] [It’s between Ojai and Oxnard] [Favorite] [Spade, e.g.]

SP10: [60s agent] [Buttons] [Grows]

I’m going to guess

99 Red Balloons

Sine Nomine, exactly right! Nicely done!

Boy, the 60s agents I thought of without thinking of that one…Bond? Peel? Powers? $%&!! It would have cracked the case right there.

I’m going to try a set now. This has a common theme too.

BoD1. (Type)(Card game)(Two _ two)(Head ornaments)
BoD2. (Rating unit)(Potential quagmires)
BoD3. (Jayhawks’ roost)(May play L, C, or R)(Peninsular region)
BoD4. (Not “a”)(Piece of work)(Useful connection)(Boisson at a salon)(Historian Theodore)(Something filed or brought)
BoD5. Theme: (Form of address)(Smart one)(Something “good for you”)

Sorry… maybe I made it too obscure. It’s hard to find the balance between making it challenging without being a jackass. Hats off to those who do this for a living.

Anyway, the answer I was going for is:

On Golden Pond. “On” precedes line in “online”; a type of globe is a Golden Globe, and hockey was first played on frozen ponds. Too much of a reach on that last one?

Yeah, a bit of a reach on the last clue. You could play hockey on frozen lakes, rivers, inlets and bays…even a flooded field if necessary.

Oh hey…while I’m here…does anybody need a little nudge in the right direction on my clues?

You’re getting one anyway.

BoD1. (Type) (Card game) and (Head ornaments)
BoD3. (Jayhawks’ roost) of (Peninsular region)
BoD4. The (What a piece of work) (Useful connection) the (Historian Theodore) (Something filed or brought)

Not to mention the old NHL arenas, which is what I was thinking of: Maple Leaf Gardens, the Montreal Forum, Madison Square Gardens, Boston Gardens, Detroit Olympia, and Chicago Stadium. I was trying to fit variations of the above into the solution.

Beware of Doug, I’m still stumped on yours, in spite of the clue.

Here’s #5 as a gimme: Theme: Sir Alec Guinness

The Man [in?] the White Suit ?

Trust twickster. Righto!!

That helps. Many thanks! BoD1 is thus:

Kind Hearts and Coronets

Righto once more!

The last 2 everybody knows…

BoD2. (Rating unit) (Potential quagmires)
BoD3. (Jayhawks’ roost) of (Peninsular region)
