Well, I had some stuff written up but my reign basically boiled down to “I declared war on Barcelona and then died of consumption.”
I lived just a hair longer than two years.
Sending the file to the next fellow.

It’s been several days. No news from **Least Original User Name Ever **?
ETA : well…only two days, apparently, sorry. I’m too much in a hurry to see the follow up. And sorry for **Johnny Bravo ** who’s unlucky with his kings.
Yeah, I gotta toss the file in. I haven’t got around to it. Today, I shall.
Wow, the dynastic changes pass a lot more quickly than I orignally thought they would. I had meant to start a practice game with an Islamic ruler to get a bit of a handle on the differences, but if LOUNE ends up finishing up reasonably soon, I’m just going to have to jump into SoI feet-first.
Inshallah, the tactics that work with Christian rulers will translate at least somewhat.

They do translate to some extent, but I had some surprises. I listed what appeared to me as the main differences in a post somewhere in this thread, and later added something about decadence, that hadn’t hit me in the face yet when I wrote the first post, and about inheritance (entirely based on who amongst your potential heis own the most land.
Also, I later d something while looking at the last save I had sent. Apparently “is your half-brother” is a -50 Relationship penalty. I didn’t check to see if it was always true, but apparently your brothers hate you on principle.
Okay. I’m all over it now.
Holy crap. I hop in, do a few minor things, declare war on Barcelona, lose my lunch, and now I have others under our liege trying to take over Granda and Valencia. Ugh.
1131: We get the Emirate of Murcia, because we’re nice. Well, that’s a thing. It helps to be in the Sultan’s court. He’s probably just trying to reduce his own decadence, though.
1132: I’m building a Qasbah in Tarragona. I predict that the rocks used to build it will become legend, and that people will be so stricken by its beauty, they will write songs about it.
1134: Okay. So it looks like we’re tiny bugs, that can be squashed at any moment. I think the best course of action is to mind my own businesses, improve my lands, and get in with the Sultan to the best of my abilities.
1135: So maybe my Grand Vizier was fabricating claims in Massat and Infa. What the hell. Let us take their lands.
1138: We won the wars for Massat and Infa. I picked a good time to hop in and take their stuff. there’s a weak claim on the table for Tulaytulah, but I think I’m going to sit back and be passive for a while now.
1142: Stupid crown rules prohibiting vassals from declaring war on each other…
1144: I am now Court Calligrapher. I guess I have that going for me.
1144: So, there was a little breakup in the properties just by Zaragosa and Navarra. I think I can hop in and pick off these two with a holy war. I think I can get Zaragosa and Calatayud.
1145: I was right. I came in, sacked the cities quickly, and now have those two properties. I’m looking at Alto Aragon next and Navarro and Najera as the next conquests. Things are looking up!
1145: I pushed the conquest of Alto Aragon. The timing seems right.
A little later, still in 1145: There’s a stack of 13,000 soldiers sitting there at Alto Aragon, waiting for me. Hoo boy. Allies, you better come through, as there are no mercenaries available for hire.
1146: The stack moves through me slowly, but I manage to beat them back as a large column of my liege’s troops come through the province. I make my way past the battle and head to Alto Aragon, where we lay siege.
1147: Well, it seems like all of Christendom is coming in to back this up. This siege needs to end super soon. Still no mercenaries to throw at the walls yet, either.
1148: The war for Alto Aragon is still going, but it seems that there’s also a full blown rebellion going on against the Sultan. I’m trying to see if there’s a way I can pinch in and take that claim on Fes that I’ve had my eye on, but it doesn’t look like I can swing it.
1149: I stopped the war on Alto Aragon. Now I need to rebuild again and see if I can’t get back in there. It would be nice if there were mercenaries, but I can’t throw boats at the enemy.
1150: Maybe I can sneak in and take out this rebelling province of Albarracin. They seem weak-ish.
Later: Hm. 14,000 troops popped up there. Nope. Not weak-ish at all.
Later: Another Sultan has swooped in and taken over the place, apparently. This could get messy. I really need to take my own “hang back and don’t rock the boat” advice.
1152: I got smacked in the head in a battle that I didn’t realize I was in. Gr.
1152 still: Another rebellion pops up. Let’s see if I can’t grab another piece of land or two before I die.
Later: Nope. I died.
The file goes to the next person.
Could we have screenshots? Also, how did you deal with decadence?
I gave away most of my desmene. I built a city that was of the wrong desmene type (I still don’t know what that means) and it was pulling in 27 gold, which was really nice. It let me fund lots of construction projects.
I forgot about the pictures, but they’re unfortunately not possible any more. I only had the game in the autosaves. After the Islam game, I tried a Venice game, and it copied over the autosaves.
