Crush your enemies. See them driven before you... -- A poker thread.

Recently I’ve been playing a lot through Poker.com. They have some pretty good software and run a bunch of different games. From Omaha Hi/Lo 8 to 5-Stud. And there’s usually at least one low fixed limit table running.*

I play Texas Hold’em. Been doing so now for 3 1/2 years. Granted, I’m no professional, but I like to think I’m pretty good considering I can’t count to 11 with socks on.

For instance, last night I crushed someone’s head off by calling with a suited A9 on the button. Flop came down AA9, turn Q, river 3. He raised me on flop and checked-raised the turn. I honestly would’ve thought he picked up the AQ had he not been entirely too aggressive on the three. Called all the way through to a 14 pot, which is pretty high considering the average for .50/$1 fixed limit is about $8-9. The guy ended up having an A-rag, so I thought I played it pretty well.

Anyway, just thought I’d share, and ask if anyone wanted to come out and play with me. If you’re good all the better, I love a challenge… If not, well that’s okay too. Poker rooms always need fresh fish.

[sub]*I try to stay away from Pot-limit games 'cause they tend to be too aggresive for me, and attract entirely too many tilters.[/sub]

Also, I forgot to add that I have no idea why I attribute that quote to playing poker. I just do.

Ah, poker. The main reason I didn’t need an allowance at summer camp…

Here’s a somewhat related question: are there any sites that are any good at teaching a person to play poker? For whatever reason, my dad has refused to teach me. I’ve only been nagging him for the past, oh, eleven years, so he might give in eventually, but in the meantime… any ideas?
