CELIBATE [CELIB(-r)ATE]

Peg flown back for a FOX movie. (4,4)
I thought of that but rejected it as celebrate has an e in it, not an i.
You are right, Oly. I wonder if I got the answer wrong?
The “Supposedly” part indicates a homonym, so you’re correct.
Except homophones should be actual words, and “celibrate” is not so the clue doesn’t quite work.
Biotop still got it, so the game can proceed.
Do we need a hint on this or is this just a low activity/ busy time for everyone?
Tera Gram!
It’s Margaret backwards. Too bad it’s otherwise meaningless.
Yeah, I could use a hint.
Teen Wolf (TEE + FLOWN backwards)

FELAFEL (fell awful)
The plane crashed on an unforgetting animal. (8)
ELEPHANT (nice anagram of “the plane”, not seen that before which surprises me given the pun potential with “jumbo jet”)

What do you mean, “Just the opposite!”? (7)
Footnote: I always knew it as “falafel”, but today I learnt “felafel” is a valid alternative spelling.
That’s the challenge of anagrams. They’re easy to get. The trick is to masquerade them as normal words in a clue, but all the solver has to do is match the length of certain clue words to the answer’s length.
Agreed - although in this case, “unforgetting animal” immediately made me think of elephant, and it was only then I spotted the anagram. What do you think of this as an alternative: “Confused the plane with a jumbo”?
I like it!
I’m thinking “antonym” but not sure if it’s just the definition.
