I was only kind of half-watching, mainly because David Caruso annoys the heck out of me, but I wanted to see if the NYC version might be worth watching. The jury is still out, depends on the time slot, probably.
My main reaction to the show was (when Sinise and Caruso are entering the apartment of the NY murdered couple for the first time), “These people have hideous taste!”
Also, when Caruso shows up at the funeral at the end, the look he exchanged with the grieving daughter completely creeped me out.
NYCSI #1: “We got a guy here, looks like his mid-thirties. Tie was too tight. Looks like autoerotic asphyxiation. He was found in an abandoned coffee shop.”
Swell. A spin-off featuring Melina Kanakaredes which may drive William Peterson away from his own show. The only time I could stomach her was when she was being shown the door by Bobby Simone on NYPD Blue. I hope Peterson, as an executive producer, receives a decent payoff from all this.
And yes, it was a nice surprise to see Hill Harper again. What, Snooooopy, were we the only ones to watch The Handler? I liked that show.
This one has potential, but the writing better get a whole lot better. And please, lose the damn blue filter. I hate it on Joan of Arcadia, when they use it in the police station and all the cop shots. Okay, okay; cops = blue. We get it already.
I don’t watch that one, but on Third Watch when Bosco and Yokas need help, they call ESU. Just so you know.
EPCSI #1: “Hey, Chuy … check out dis muerto guy aqui.”
EPCSI #2: “¡Penche! Dude smells like a ten dia old breakfast burrito tambien.”
EPCSI #1: “¡Dios mio! Check out the way he’s leaning … he’s casting the shadow of la Virgen de Guadalupe en the edificio aqui!”
EPCSI #2: “¡Chinga! ¡Don’t move el body, cabron! ¡It’s a sign!”
The rest of the episode shows how the investigation is performed in a setting where the body can’t be moved, because it’s now a holy site and people from hundreds of miles around are making pilgrimages to see it.
