Does anyone know what this means?

It’s the title of a ska song (done by Let’s Go Bowling, on the “Bang” soundtrack, Moon Ska records) that I just love.

My Spanish/English dictionary doesn’t contain the word “cumbia”. When I use an online translator, it comes back as “cumbia of the sun”. DUH!

So, what gives with cumbia? Is it maybe a place name? Is this actually an obscure English word that I don’t know? The CD lists songwriting credits as Traditional, leading me to believe this might be a Caribbean folk song.

This is driving me nuts, and any help would be appreciated.

Cumbia is a genre of Latin American dance music like salsa or marenge(?). The phrase is similar to “Dance of the Sun” except it indicates a particular dance or dance music.
