I read this on CNN this morning and it blew my mind:
I really had no idea that the number of AIDS deaths and infections was that high. :eek:
That’s truly frightening!
Even more frightening is the recent claim that three-fourths of American with AIDS don’t even know they have it!
Here’s a news link that may only be good for a few hours. It’s hard to not think, in this day, that the high number of those unaware of their infection are not the products of their own willful ignorance.
I tried starting a thread in IMHO regarding this very subject, but no one has responded. It references the thread a couple weeks ago where someone reminded one of the gay posters about safe sex and he went off in a rage about how dare anyone remind the gay population when they’re the ones living the nightmare, etc. etc.
It’s sad to say, but I think everyone got a little too comfortable and let their guard down. It is a truly frightening scenario, and I don’t know what the answer is. Are these numbers inflated? Is there an ulterior motive if they are inflated?
In the SF Chronicle this Sunday was a front page article about how there is now a
special HIV variant resistant to drugs. In other words, its adapted.
I also wonder what the straight people stats are on this?
