Curse you iPhone!

I contrived enough reasons and justifications to buy you. You’re SO much better than the hacked WM6 smartphone I gave up for you. I’m impressed as all getout at what you can do.

Til I came to the SDMB.

Now I can’t read the FREEEKIN’ spoilerboxes!
ARRRRGH!

hints? suggestions? Should I just suck it up and live in ignorance of everything spoiled?

I got that problem with my Archos. At least the spoil temptation is removed.

The problem is: there’s plenty of stuff I know I’ll NEVER get around to seeing, so having them spoilered wouldn’t affect me much.

Odd thing is, I had a candybar Windows Mobile phone with the same problem (no way to highlight text), and a windows Mobile phone with a keyboard that fixed that for me. The REST of that phone was crap compared to the iPhone, but it’s odd how some little things stand out.

Here’s what you need to do:

Yeah, lame and cruel, I know. Sorry.

Schmuck!

Is there some way to toggle the view in Safari? I remember that at one point in time Opera couldn’t handle spoiler tags, so those of us who used it had to switch to author mode and that fixed the problem.

How about you click the reply button, read the post, then return to the thread.

Does the iPhone browser allow you to “Select All” the text on the page? The alternate colour of the selected text will probably reveal the spoiler.

There’s no ‘select all’ as there’s really no ‘select’.

One of the shortcomings is the lack of a cut-n-paste functionality.

Yes, but we all checked it. Oh wait. I’m not helpping am I ?

That should work-thanks!

I paid $500 for my iPhone and it won’t do my laundry. I want my money back.

Maybe we should implement the new iSpoiler on SDMB:

Psst…Frodo lives.

that ‘hit reply’ work-around really is clever!
-sent from my iPhone-

[Stewie Griffin] You suck! [/SG]

So, how are you using an iPhone in Soviet Canuckistan, where they’re not on sale yet? :dubious:

Excellent. Chalk up Useful Post #17 for FF.

I have the opposite problem. I’m running Opera Mini on my Samsung ZX-20 and the spoiler boxes are already highlighted, so I have to read them whether I want to or not.

Do you have tools on your browser? If I go to “internet options” then “accessability” on mine and click on “ignore colors specified on Web pages”, the spoiler boxes are always visible. I run my Explorer like that at work so I’m not looking at bright pink and green web sites when I’m supposed to be working. (Not every site is as discreet as the Dope) Nobody can figure out why my intranet pages look different from theirs, and I just shrug and say “I dunno, some computer thing…”.

The obvious solution: Nudism

no such settings exist for the Iphone version of safari. It’s got the usual settings for cache and cookies, but nothing for appearance.
