Curt Shilling's Bloody Sock

I hate questioning people’s cherished myths, but… Most of us have seen countless pictures of Curt Shilling’s bloody sock during game two of the 2004 World Series. The sock has even been enshrined in the Baseball Hall of Fame Museum. But I am certain I remember an interview on television with Shilling’s doctor a couple of days after the game in which he said that it was not blood leaking through the sock; it was a red salve he had put on the sutures to help fight infection. Does anyone else remember this interview?
