Custom flower orders in New Jersey?

I want to send a nice floral bouquet to my female relatives in NJ for Christmas-one girl is named Daisy so she’ll get daises, natch, likewise with the other 5 ladies in question. So the store/service in question needs to have a fairly wide selection…

Should I do this via a national chain, or choose one more local to them? Appreciate advice from those with experience ordering such things.

My theory is that if you call a national chain, they’ll take a cut of whatever you pay. So if you’re paying a hundred bucks, FTD or 1-800-FLOWERS is going to give the local florist only $80 or so. So I think you’re better off calling a good local florist directly. And what I’ve done in the past is to find the local alternative newspaper’s website. Many of them have a “Best of” issue annually that rates local businesses based on a reader poll. So I’ve called whichever florist won the last poll.

BTW, the other thing I did was to ask the recipient to send me a photo of whatever I received. (Frankly I was disappointed in what $150 bought for my parents’ 50th wedding anniversary.)
