I’d like to have a logo put on a Zippo. I want the logo itself to be the polished metal of the case, with a red background and outline. (i.e., the ‘field’ and ‘border’ would need to be engraved; not the bits that ‘make the logo’.) I did find one place that does it, but they have a minimum order of 50 units. Is there anyone who does ‘one-offs’? Would virtually any place that does engraving be able to do it? I’d rather have the paint done for me, but I can do it myself if I need to. (What kind of paint would I use, anyway?)

Two possibilities for you. If there’s a trade school in your area that has a machinist course, stop in and see if you can get one of the students to engrave it for you using a CNC machine, or you could snail it to me, and I can get it done for you.
Got an e-mail back from the technical college. They said I should contact them in May or June.
Perhaps a jewler.
