I know Volkswagen didn’t invent the bud vase in a car idea. I used to go to old car shows, and some of them had them. I’ve also seen them in pictures of old (I’m tired of the word “classic”) cars. But I don’t remember which cars came so equipped. Rolls, Olds, Caddy? Many of them?
Maybe Tucker? Let’s see if I can yank Tuckerfan’s chain.
Anybody know?
BTW; Best car collection in the world had to be the one in that casino (Harrah’s) in Reno. Sad that it’s gone.
Peace,

Damfino. I always thought the bud vases were a little “girlie” and pretty much didn’t care for them at all, so I’ve never paid any attention to them.
A lot of them. Many 1920’s cars which were intended to be chauffer driven had bud vases in the passenger compartment. For instance, I can find descriptions of 1919 Pierce Arrows which had bud vases, and somebody on EBay was flogging a framed 1910 patent for a car vase, also issued on behalf of Pierce Arrow.
I would not be at all surprised if fancier carriages were so equipped, and the idea just continued on when carriage makers started manufacturing auto bodies.
Hey, Bud (heh). I put a bud vase in my Audi, and I love it. Smells good and makes me feel good when I go out to my car in the morning. Beats the hell out of those little hangy, piney things.
So, are you dating Ahnold or what.
I love those old cars like the ones in Squink’s link. Especially the luxury cars. I like to look at them, and ride in them, but I have absolutely no desire to own one.
Weird, huh?
I’m kinda the same about guns.
Meh, who wants a guy with a Hummer when you already own a tank! Besides, you’re from California, it’s expected that you’d do “foofy” things like that.
Whoa! Pardon my ignorance, but what is that? I need to find more pics. Those little doohickies in the center of the grill look vaguely familiar.
Looks cool, but it needs a vase. It has one, doesn’t it, and you’re just not tellin’.
I’ll bet most women don’t like bud vases in a car.
That, my friend, is a 1969 Chrysler Newport, and you can find links to more pics of it here. And no, there is no bud vase in that car. She’s nothing but Detroit steel. And if a woman wants a bud vase in her car, that’s fine with me, but she ain’t puttin’ one in mine.
Sounds like something you’d find in a hearse.
Family car, maybe. I doubt a hearse. :dubious:
Show me.
Actually, it’d look great in a flower car like this one.
The 1937 Dodge that I learned to drive in had a bud vase in the rear seat on the side by the windows. It had a verrrry long wheel base, a three speed transmission with the shift on the floor, grey velveteen uphostery, and was a dove grey in color. As I remember, it had a straight 8, (might have been a straight 6), and the rear doors were the so-called “suicide” type that had the hinges on the side toward the front. The wheels were quite large as I remember. Of course this was 45 years ago, kiddies…
It looked like a swanky gangster’s car…I was the envy of my friends.
My first car was a 1939 Plymouth sedan. I don’t recall bub vases, but it had suicide doors. This was in about 1960, and it was, as you say, tres cool.
I traded my dad’s (that I inherited) ShopSmith for it.
Big back seat. Thanks for the memories, Phoebe (My first lust).
Way cool. At first I thought it was a joke, but no, it really was a flower car.
I know how it feels, some days.
