Cyanide Lady

A few years ago, a little old lady was caught sending cyanide in the mail. She was upset about something, but I don’t remember what. (It could have been something about poor medical treatment she received.)

She was sending out cyanide in pill form, stating that it was medication of some sort. Apparently her intended victims were randomly chosen. The idea was that they would take this “vitamin”, “weight-loss miracle”, or whatever it was, and drop dead.

Does anyone remember this? What ever happened to her? I think she was in poor health.

Her name was Kathryn Schoonover.

All I could find were these reports of the initial bust:

Report 1

Report 2

And another report that she croaked in the care of the feds.

Yeah, I remember that. It happened in August 1998, her name was Kathryn Schoonover. She had liver cancer, and I believe some of the pills had been addressed to the medical people who had been treating her (none of the cyanide pills ever actually got in the mail). She never did stand trial, she died in 1999.
