Cyber Blow-Ups

I came in this morning to find my inbox full of Google Workspace Alerts. These are notices sent to domain administrators notifying us of application failures in Google and in apps associated with Google. I had to scroll to see them all.

The first and foremost is that no teacher could sign into Power Teacher, which is the lifeblood of the online teaching system. Attendance, grades, history, communications, and scheduling all go through Power Teacher.

I tried pretty much everything with no luck. Then I remembered that the particular error presented occurs when the user has no Global Identifier to connect their Powerschool account with their Google domain username. Thing is, they all have a Global Identifier, or they couldn’t have successfully accessed the system in the first place.

Nevertheless, I tried a Hail Mary and deleted a Global Identifier, saved the setting, re-entered the Global Identifier, saved the setting, and tried again. It worked! My only conclusion is that, somehow, the Global Identifier was corrupted and had to be re-initialized. Only problem is that I’ve had to repeat the process 30 times.

I live by the detective’s credo: “When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever is left, no matter how improbable, must be the truth.” Can’t say that is a law, but the thinking worked for me in this instance.

Now, on to all the other issues like Clever, Renaissance, Amplify, etc, etc. I can see this is going to be the day from hell. LOL

Could you guys have been affected by the major AWS outage that lasted most of yesterday? Maybe there was some nightly sync that failed to run successfully because of that?

We have a thread about that: How has the Amazon webservers issue affected you today?

If this is a general thread on cyber blow-ups, imagine getting to the airport for your trip to Rome to catch a cruise and everything is the blue screen of death and no one can do anything.
Then you remember you’re on Air Canada.
The most shocking thing was that Air F U was the one airline able to adapt and we easily made our flight.

I believe you’re right! I doubt it was some cosmic coincidence.

Ah, “The Revenge of Air Canada”! LOL
